SECURING THE LEGACY OF GAMMA KAPPA: Building for the Next 100 Years The Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity Property Management Corporation Gamma Kappa Chapter P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested Dave typically sets the date when he can secure a large group of basketball tickets. Brad Meyer '73 sends out the announcements, and Tim organizes the local Columbia arrangements. This year, they attended the Mizzou vs. Tennessee basketball game on February 13. Attendees includ- ed: David Mueller '72, Brad Meyer '73, Mike McGlasson '73, Scott Baker '74, Gregg Ham- man '74, Tim Reed '74, Dave Johnson '75, Matt Paul '75, Mark Meilink '75, Walt Norman '76, Jeff Wolff '75, Steve Collins '76, Jim Kissinger '76, Galen Neil '76, David Ransin '76, Keith Madsen '77, Mark Palermo '77, Doug Stehl '77, Brad Stevens '77, Mike Beck '78, Kevin Gibbens '78, Brian Kurtz '78, and Chet Lamkey '78. "The amazing thing is that after 25 to 30 years, we pick up relationships right where we left off," Scott Bak- er '74 says. "We enjoy each other's company just like we did when we were in school." Many of the '70s men understand the importance of the campaign and how it will affect future brothers. "As we've have gotten older, we realized that our chapter wasn't just a house and place to live, but an in- stitution that gave to each of us more than we could have individually put in," Scott says. "To that end, we have a responsibility, as we're able, to give back and make sure that it continues to provide for others what it did for us." All men can agree that each reunion is worth the time and effort. LCA is more than memories; it's the bond of brotherhood that transcends time and distance. Annual '70s Reunion (Continued from page 2) Alumni enjoy the 2015 '70s reunion. Chapter BeComes stronGer durinG proBationary period A fter one year of being placed on probation by the national fraternity, Gamma Kappa Zeta continues to push to complete the last few terms in order to be put back in good standing. At the initial stages of this period, the chapter, as well many of our outstanding alumni, experienced frustration and confusion surrounding the sanction placed on us. As one of the largest and strongest Lambda Chi Alpha chapters, we discovered that the national fraternity holds us to a higher standard and wants to see us thrive. The terms of the probation were extremely constructive in nature, pushing us to be a better chapter than we were before. Many of the required terms were centered on event planning and risk management, which we have excelled in as of late. A superior knowledge among chapter members and officers has been gained to mitigate risk for all chapter events, further protecting the future of Gamma Kappa Zeta. We are in the process of forming an alumni advisory board to fulfill one of the few remaining requirements. The chapter will then be given one last training session from the national fraternity in August, at the completion of which we will submit a letter to the director of chapter services requesting to have the probationary period lifted so we can return to good standing. While the word probation carries many negative connotations, the period has been very constructive for the chapter, furthering the strength and continuing the future of Gamma Kappa Zeta. We thank everyone for their support during this period and hope that you continue to see us excel in everything that we do. Fraternally Yours, Stephen Malek '15 High Alpha
