Kowalski, an Air Force veteran, was un- happy in his career as a postal worker. On the side he worked creating sculptures out of concrete, steel and clay. He brought some of his work to Ross, who inspected it and recommended that Kowalski try sculpting ice. Kowalski, who is 43 years old, said ice sculpting creations cost between $225 and $1,800, depending on size and de- tail. Sculptures generally last about eight hours, though it can vary depending on the size of the sculpture and the tempera- ture of the atmosphere.
