74 July 2016 Club Bulletin www.EDpublications.com Alan assembled a great management team led by Joe Cornish, one of the best general managers in the business. With the attitude that the girls are the club's best customers, Double Shoe is now one of the top Gentleman's Club in Texas. I can't recommend stopping in to the Double Shoe enough when in the Houston area. Have a great time and say hello to Alan and Megan, Joe and the ladies. — story and photo by Christopher Blue of Hot Spots Tampa For this Expo edition I can't think of a better person to feature than Duke Mendel of Scores. Besides being a great businessman and a great guy, Duke has balls of steel. To open up a club in-between two of the most well-established strip clubs in the Tampa Bay area and succeed is a feat few people could accomplish. His back story is a quite a read. Duke started out in New Orleans and Fayetteville with Servico. He then moved to the Baja Beach Club and from there to Thee Dollhouse Pompano. He landed at Thee Dollhouse Tampa with Billy Bullard, utilizing the blueprint of gentleman's club management established by Michael J. Peter. In 1995, Duke opened Graffiti Beach and Stampede with Randy Brown in Largo. Showgirls in Valrico was the next club opened with Randy Brown. For two years Duke was a partner with my good friends at Penthouse in Tampa. Duke then took over then Shangri-la on the competitive Dale Mabry Highway turning it into Penthouse which is now one of the top clubs in the country. Duke recently opened up TRUTH, an ultra upscale urban Gentleman's Club In Drew Park. When asked about his many successes in a tough market in tough economic times he says "Competition keeps you on your toes." When he isn't running his many businesses Duke finds time to indulge in his hobby of raising Arabian horses. Next time you are in clubbing around Tampa stop by two of Tampa Bay's finest clubs, Penthouse and Truth, to say hello to Duke. — story and photo by Christopher Blue of Desire Magazine continued from page 72 Duke (L) and Christopher
