The DELTA PSI SIG Delta Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity at RPI Summer 2016 C ome join the party and do a little work too! The 11th annual celebra- tion of our alumni and active pre-semester work weekend is fast approaching. Work Party 2016 will soon be here, and all alumni brothers are invited back to Troy to participate in this fun-filled event. Can you believe that it has been three years since the Bill Pomeroy Chapter House of the Delta Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi was dedicated Homecoming weekend in 2013? PEP President John Pfaff '71 and Chapter Advisor Bob "Justa" Eckart '73 conducted the spring semester year-end review and found the house to be in good condition. The active brothers are commend- ed for the fine job they are doing in maintaining the house. But, as always, there are things to be done to prepare the chapter house for the upcoming school year. Our foreman, Bob "Beo" Bedard '75, apprentice foreman, Gary Stottler '82, and chief home remodeler, Alan "HJ" Hanbury '74, along with input from the chapter, have compiled a task list for Work Party 2016 with lots of little repair and improvement jobs for everyone. Pro- fessional skills are not needed; just a desire to work alongside the active brothers in caring for our house. As always, there are landscaping projects, clean-up activities, painting, minor repairs, and other general maintenance projects. Please help us shine up The Pomeroy for the fall! But wait—there's more! Let's not forget about the Friday golf outing, the Friday evening active and alumni dinner followed by the PEP Corporation meeting and elections, the weekend of great camaraderie, and the Saturday night ritual house meeting. This is a chance to strengthen our bonds with each other, swap stories, and tell tall tales of bygone days. To sum it all up, it's simply a good time! This should be on everyone's bucket list. Join us this year and check it off yours. Please let us know if you are attending so we can plan accordingly. We look forward to seeing you all back at 58 Pinewoods soon! In hoc, Thom Kouletsis '76 (717) 805-2618 tkouletsis@comcast.net L ast August, alumni elected Bob Bedard '75, Dan Zuber '10, Jim Rosetti '79, and Thom Kouletsis '76 to two-year terms on the board. At the following meet- ing, I was reelected by the board as president, Dan was reelected secretary, and Thom was elected treasurer. According to our bylaws, Ken Miller '80, Jim Campbell '70, and I, John Pfaff '71, are up for reelection at our annual meeting on August 26. In addition, Tony Morelli '96 has volun- teered to run for election as well. If there is anyone else interested in serving on the board, please let me know. The more active we are as alumni, the more successful our undergraduate chapter becomes. This year, in addition to the elected board mem- bers, we have consistently had 23 alumni take part in our monthly meetings as active con- tributors. I especially want to recognize Larry Heininger '77 and Gary Stottler '82 for their help this year. I ask that each of you fill out the enclosed proxy form and either mail it to Phi Epsilon Phi, P.O. Box 494, Averill Park, N.Y. 12018, or e-mail it to dzuber321@gmail.com. Please be diligent about this, as we need about 90 votes, proxy or present, to have a quorum for the annual meeting. The House Corporation functions mainly as the landlord for the house. As such, we believe our primary duty is to try to keep the house as close as we can to as-new condition. After our semester-end inspection in May, we decided to go to an every-other- year schedule for refurbishing the common area hardwood floors. We all should be very proud of the condition of our house, thanks to our undergrad- uate brothers. Other contracts we have include a lawn mowing service and a snow plowing service. The lawn sprinkler service was discontinued, as this year's house manager, Chris St. Onge '18, is familiar with the system and has taken care of it. Thanks to our risk man- ager, James Crist '16, the fire alarm monitor- ing service, annual kitchen hood cleaning and inspection, annual fire alarm inspection, and annual internal sprinkler system inspection has been placed under one contract. This will save us money and will be more efficient. In addition to these safety inspections (required by our in- surance policies), RPI does an indepen- dent annual inspection, which is part of their 5-Star competition. This has led to RPI designating Delta Psi as a 5-Star fraternity and naming us Chapter of the Year. Overall, our infrastructure sys- tems have all been performing well and we keep a close eye on things such as filter replacements.
