Rutherford Weekly Cooking By Allison Flynn The house wine of the South should be on your menu for National Iced Tea Day, which is June 10. Add some flavor to your tea by adding fruit, swapping honey for sugar and more. Sweet Lemon Iced Tea Water ¾ - 1 cup/150-200g granulated sugar ¼ teaspoon baking soda 10 tea bags black tea Juice of 4 -6 fresh lemons 4 lemons, sliced Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. In a large, heat-proof pitcher/jug, combine the boiling water, baking soda & sugar mix well to dissolve the sugar. Add the tea bags and let steep for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags. Add the lemon juice and fill the rest of the pitcher/jug with cold water. Refrigerate until chilled. Add lemon slices and ice to a the glasses and pour the tea over the ice and lemon slices to serve. Apple Infused Iced Green Tea Two Green Tea Bags Hot Water Ice Cubes Two Diced Apples Pour hot, boiling water over two green tea bags. Let steep for 8-10 minutes. Throw tea bags away and put ice cubes in the tea to cool it. Once tea is iced and cold, add the diced apples and allow time to infuse. Strawberry Lemonade Sun Tea 24 ounces Filtered Water 2 Tablespoons Truvia (or preferred sweetener) - optional 1 Family Size Iced Tea Bag (or 3 regular tea bags) 1 Lemon - sliced 5-6 Large Strawberries - tops removed and cut in half Sunshine Ice Combine water and sweetener in large glass con- tainer. Stir. Add the lemon, strawberries and tea bag. Seal container and place in direct sunlight for 1-2 hours. Serve tea over ice.
