Page 3 SP Alpha Iota Undergraduates Secure Plans for Long-Term Success L ast fall, we achieved a 2.980 GPA, which put us above the all-male average of 2.976 and secured a 10th-place ranking among IFC fraternities. We strive to set our goals higher and strive to be number one at all times. We revised our academic system into a new, tiered structure in order to integrate more brothers into our support system. We look forward to the results at the end of the semester. MEMBERS COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE We have been focused on the education of our undergraduate members. As part of the standards of excellence, which are the executive office's means of rating the performance of chapters, we have conducted numerous workshops. Over the past few months, we have completed classes in men's health, financial responsibility, etiquette dining, and recruitment. We have also put more emphasis on achieving a high score for standards of excellence. Our goal is 90%, which would put us among the top performing chapters internationally. With convocation this summer in Las Vegas, we have high hopes to secure new awards for Alpha Iota. BROTHERS FOCUS ON RECRUITMENT EFFORTS One of the most important aspects of any spring semester is recruiting incoming freshmen. Recruitment Chairman Luke Grischow '18 has been busy recruiting new members for our fraternity. On our last PRO Day, we gave five house tours and extended two bid cards to potential new members. Our goal is to recruit 10 new members before the end of the semester. CHAPTER OFFERS SCHOLARSHIP TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC SUCCESS This year marks the second year that we have offered a scholarship to incoming freshmen. The Quest for Excellence scholarship offers $500 to two incoming male freshmen. These men do not have to express interest in Sigma Pi to apply. We offer this scholarship to promote our academic mission and search for the most motivated incoming students. After having the scholarship available for a month, we have 15 applicants with a goal of having at least 50 apply by the deadline in June. ALUMNI AND UNDERGRADUATES CREATE MEMORIES AT ST. PATS This year, we had an outstanding turnout of alumni at St. Pats, with over 20 in attendance. Aaron Watts '18 had several fun events planned for the weekend. On Saturday, after raising the Giant Sigma, we left for the Public House Brewery in St. James for a tour. Afterwards, we had an incredible dinner at Sybil's. THANK YOU, ALUMNI, FOR MAKING OUR CHAPTER ONE OF THE BEST Alpha Iota has had its challenges and struggles, but with your support we are able to continue to succeed. Thank you for your endless support of this fraternity that bonds us all together. I look forward to seeing many of you soon at formal.
