Spring 2016 THE CROSSING A. I. SP S I G M A P I • A L P H A I O T A C H A P T E R The CROSSING L ast Homecoming, Alpha Iota Building Association (AIBA) unveiled a financial model to design, expand, renovate, and improve our properties. The model included several funding vehicles, including a campaign, construction loan, and cash-on-hand. We are excited to report that Carrollton Bank has provided a substantial financing commitment for this important project. Several of our alumni have been involved in developing this model and securing this financing, and we acknowledge and appreciate their efforts. With this commitment, we have released our fundraising partner, Pennington & Company, to assess the potential of a major building project. This study will survey various alumni, which will help with alumni outreach down the road. At the end of our assessment, we will have a steering committee in place to help develop plans to guide a project that suits Alpha Iota's needs. While ambitious, we believe this goal is achievable, but it will take significant support from our alumni. Pennington & Company has completed six capital campaigns on MS&T's campus, with the average campaign resulting in $1.1 million raised. With the completion of these fraternity house projects, and the demolishing of the Quad resident hall, it is yet another reminder that students are looking for newer, attractive housing. The need to meet the demands of today's students has become prevalent throughout the Greek community. We continue to see spikes in membership for those fraternities that have completed new housing projects, and older housing continues to fall in membership. The time to act is now to remain competitive on campus. Thank you to our alumni for your continued financial support of our annual fundraising. This commitment from our alumni started when we pledged our support of the 50/50 and 100 'Till You Drop campaigns, and continues to provide the annual funding needed for routine maintenance of the properties. Please consider joining us in our efforts to provide an attractive and sustainable home for our brotherhood for generations. Fraternally, Kurt W.
