"It was time. She had lost mobility, and when I called and she didn't answer the phone, I wanted to run over there." "I had guilt when she was at home. I felt guilty if I didn't go over everyday." But she didn't have any guilt helping her mother get situat- ed at Carolina Inn, Fayetteville's Premier Assisted Living Community. At Carolina Inn, Jean is confident there is always someone there to help her mother do everything. Plus, she added, "It's beautiful here." Besides a wide range of life enrichment activities, specifically designed to enhance the quality of life for each resident, Patricia enjoys manicures by appointment, the convenience of concierge services and room service, aernoon wine and cheese socials, wellness classes, happy hours, educational seminars, Skype and e-mail tutorial classes, Patricia says that out of all the activities chair aerobics is her favorite thing to do. When you live at Carolina Inn, you're family. e chef knows what you like to eat, employees know your drink of choice, and when the stitches on Patricia's hemline fell out one day, the con- cierge on the third floor used a needle and thread and stitched it for Patricia herself. Now that's service! "It's starting to feel like home," Patricia said during the wine and cheese social on the Sky View level of Carolina Inn where she lives. When she arrived at Carolina Inn, Patricia didn't know anyone, but since then, she's made lots of friends. Dedicated To Caring For Your Loved Ones Like Family "I came to visit her one day for lunch," Jean said, "and there were fieen people at her table. I had to eat with someone else." Her private room is professionally decorated, painted her fa- vorite color blue and full of furniture she brought from home. Unless Patricia is busy doing an activity, "Anytime I call she an- swers," Jean added, "and I love that." Carolina Inn family members stay busy whether they're ventur- ing out to a performance at the symphony, shopping for their own gis at Christmas time, going to lunch, out for dinner, or inviting friends over for happy hour. ere are parties for the Super Bowl, festivities for Christmas, anksgiving, and even Halloween. Patricia says that she stays up late some nights be- cause she's having so much fun. "I get things confused," Patricia said, "and I could cry about it, but I'm going to laugh about it instead." Nearby, an attendant pours a glass of Pinot Grigio and adds some ice cubes, just the way Patricia likes. Jean looks around, "You want to move in now, don't you?" As a daughter who really cares about her mother Jean said, "If they can't be at home this is the way it should really be."
