Today – in addition to coaching soccer for his two boys – Hezar and his broth- er John operate Michael John Jewelry from their Irvine, California factory and showroom. The company handles every aspect of design in-house includ- ing drawing, sketching, CAD drafting, alloy gold casting, and product manu- facturing in their eco-friendly facility. Michael John Jewelry is carried in approximately 30 stores across the U.S. including select Neiman Marcus stores, Zadok Jewelers and Ganem Jewelers. Each retailer is carefully chosen as a brand ambassador for their elegant and inspired line. Hezar is greatly inspired by nature and architecture. The architectural influ- ence of the Eiffel tower in the Déjà vu collection is beautifully contrasted by the organic elements of some of his other collections. In particular, the Portofino Collection which was launched in 2014. "Déjà vu is our first collection, but I think Portofino is my favor- ite collection," shares Hezar proudly. "Portofino tells you exactly where it comes from, where it belongs in the world…the country, the city, the surrounding nature of ocean and moun- tain from which it was born." A stunning constellation of opals, rose and full cut diamonds, Portofino offers a color palette like no other. Clustered stones that suggest seaside landscapes and the saturated hues of the Mediterranean, this collection captures a summer by the Italian sea. "This collection is for the woman who dares to be different," says Hezar. "This is for a woman who wants her jewelry to make a statement about her beauty and taste." "All of our stones are hand cut and calibrated. All of our rings are one-of-a-kind. It is the best quality of everything…no compromise." 13 www.thejewelrybook.com o n t h e c o v e r m i c h a e l j o h n
