While the proposed route largely follows the existing Southern California Edison Devers-Palo Verde 500kV transmission line in an established utility corridor, there are a number of potential alternative routes in the study area that could be considered by the BLM. The BLM is seeking your input on the proposed Project and potential alternatives to the proposed route as part of the public scoping process. Three Scoping meetings will be held to introduce and describe the Project to the public and to solicit feedback from the public regarding the Project and potential alternatives. PROJECT WEBSITE: http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/prog/ energy/10_west_link_transmission.html COMMENTS DUE MAY 9, 2016 Public invited to review and comment during scoping period for Ten West Link Project in Arizona and California PHOENIX – On March 23, the Bu- reau of Land Management (BLM) released a notice of intent to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) for a proposed electrical trans- mission line between Maricopa and La Paz Counties, Arizona, and Riv- erside County, California. The notice of intent opens a 45-day scoping period, during which the public has the opportunity to iden- tify issues that should be considered in the EIS. The scoping period ends 45 days after publication of the Fed- eral Register. The 45-day period ends on Monday, May 9, 2016. The proposed project is the Ten West Link 500-kilovolt Transmission Line. It is a joint project of Abengoa Transmission & Infrastructure, LLC, and Starwood Energy Group Glob- al, Inc. Together they have formed DCR Transmission, LLC, which is the company proposing to build the transmission line. The proposal is to build a transmis- sion line from Tonopah, Arizona, to Blythe, California. It would span 114 miles, with 83 miles of it on public lands managed by the BLM. All but 17 miles of the line would be in the Arizona counties of Maricopa and La Paz. As part of the scoping process, the BLM held public meetings last week. The public had a chance to learn about the proposed project and to offer insights on issues that should be considered in the study. Public comments made at the meeting or through other commu- nications with the BLM during the scoping period will be addressed in the Draft EIS. Written comments may be submit- ted to the BLM, Arizona State Offi ce, One North Central Avenue, Suite 800, Phoenix, Arizona 85004, At- tention: Eddie Arreola or via email to earreola@blm.gov.
