new era for the Alabama Alpha Mu Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon has begun.
The house corporation has engaged the engineering and architectural services of
Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, an architectural firm with involvement in student housing
at Auburn, to assess the long-term needs of our facility and develop a plan to address
those needs. It was determined that new dorms are necessary to meet the needs of today's
SAE students and the Auburn fraternity system. The emphasis of the dorm reconstruction
plan will be placed on providing a more competitive physical structure for attracting
quality young men, ample personal study space, and increasing the number of bedrooms
to reflect the growth of this chapter.
In all areas, the architect has been instructed to address mandatory building and fire code
requirements. In addition, we have placed special attention on the use of practical and
durable building materials, finishes, and fixtures. Maintenance is a major design objective
and the house corporation is committed to professional maintenance and cleaning upon
completion. The aim is a high-quality, durable fraternity house that will withstand heavy
use over many years.
We must meet the needs of our undergraduates and prepare for the future of the
Alabama Alpha Mu Chapter. Our facility is not an adequate living space for our
undergraduate chapter. Updating our dorms is a task that has been necessary for a very
long time and now is the time for us to work together to bring this vision forward.
