Page 3 Sigma Phi Epsilon I t is a privilege to write you as the California Delta RLC chapter president. Despite recent challenges, we have embraced the start of a new semester and continue to return to elite status as an organization. Last semester, we achieved the highest overall GPA among all IFC chapters with a cumulative 3.18. The next closest chapter received a 3.05 GPA and the SDSU fall 2015 cumulative GPA was 3.13. We have to attribute this great accolade to the help from our faculty fellows, Christine Probett and Jessica Savalla. Through our academic success program, they provide direct, skills-focused academic support for students desiring additional help. Our ambition continues as we look to have the highest GPA among all Greek chapters on campus. We continue to build a reputation as outstanding leaders on campus. • Justin Cho '18, active member and live- in, was elected this spring as the new Associated Students College of Business representative. • Graham McKay '18 and Reed Hamilton '18 founded the Coast Guard Auxiliary. • Harrison Baum '17, Trevin O'Cain '18, Troy Owens '18, and Imahn Moshksar '19 are campaigning for highly sought-after Associated Students positons. This spring, we will team up with the brothers of the California Rho chapter at UCSD and California Beta Beta at USD to host our bi-annual philanthropy event, Sun Cup. This event includes soccer at the beach and the entire San Diego Greek community. All proceeds from this event will go toward our beneficiary, LHON, to support the central vision loss disease that affected Jeremy Poincenot '09. Cal Delta has made conscious efforts in giving back to the community. We organized beach clean-ups with sororities, SDSU campus clean- ups, refugee tutoring programs, and we are a proud sponsor of Ex4Vets, a fundraising event benefitting disabled veterans and homeless members in the San Diego community. We currently hold the second-most community service hours among all IFC chapters, but we intend on closing that gap this semester. Last fall, the CA Delta RLC collectively earned a chapter GPA of 3.18. With this GPA, they regained the top spot for grades in the IFC, and the number three slot for all Greek organizations. To celebrate this accomplishment and to congratulate those CA Delta brothers with a fall GPA and/or overall GPA of 3.5 or better, the AVC hosted the twice-yearly GPA steak dinner on February 18. Skip Dahlkamp '64 and Bob Gibbs '63 tended the barbecue. Faculty Fellow Christine Probett presented award certificates to all who attended. We congratulate the following members for their academic success: Special recognition goes to Austin Dean '16, Matthew Sharp '19, and Jacob Smith '18 for scoring a perfect 4.0! Thirty brothers were recognized for their academic achievements at the fall Steak Dinner. CA Delta scholars with Faculty Fellow Christine Probett.
