Hosted by Gary Romoff '90, the Chapter/Alumni Basketball Game and Barbecue continues to be a signature event. This year, the chapter members doubled down with their support and involvement because they wanted to honor two very special CA Delta volunteers. AVC members and CA Delta alumni Bob Trovaten '67 and Skip Dahlkamp '64 were awarded SigEp's highest volunteer honor, the Order of the Golden Heart, at the 2015 Grand Chapter Conclave. CA Delta wanted to host an event that would show the respect and appreciation that they have for these special brothers. They wanted to showcase these men as role models for how SigEp can truly be a lifelong commitment. The barbecue and showcase was held on Saturday, February 6, at the chapter house. Gary came down from the L.A. area with good friend and active alumnus Andy Chaffee '87. Together, they literally brought a carload of food with them. Gary's signature meal always includes barbecued brats, chilis, oceans of guacamole, and fresh-cut fruit. CA Delta brothers provided the kitchen support. All local alumni received invitations, as did SigEp and university officials. SigEp Faculty Fellows Christine Probett and Jessica Savalla were in attendance. We counted at least six past chapter presidents, including Dan White '06, Brian Dickey '06, Davin Heaton '12, Jack Heaton '14, Patric Kreidler '16, and Trevor Lahoz '17. Joining them were more than 80 CA Delta active members and 20 local alumni, including Bob and Skip, Bob Gibbs '63, Dann Whalen '69, Ed Ryan '67, Warren Smit '72, Joe Sullivan '66, Brian Odell '65, Tom Jimenez '65, Anthony Lanzone '93, and Jim Planchon '64. This year, the chapter wanted to up the ante with attendance and invited the women of Alpha Chi Omega. The program began with introductions and comments from Joe Sullivan '66 about the newly launched scholarship fund programs honoring Bob, Skip, and CA Delta alumnus Tim MacNeil '66. This was followed by a very emotional viewing of the video segment, taken from Conclave, of the actual Order of the Golden Heart award ceremony. AVC Recognized at 2016 Carlson Leadership Academy S igEp holds a regional officer leadership training and awards program each year. On January 29-30, 11 newly elected CA Delta Chapter officers and six AVC members attended. Four of the officers received scholarship support from the Trovaten-Dahlkamp Scholarship Fund. Typically, a chapter is able to fund between five and seven men. A highlight of the event was seeing the CA Delta AVC receive the Regional Operational Excellence Award for our stewardship of chapter operations.
