DDD Crescent News Delta Xi Chapter at the University of Missouri Spring 2016 10 0 Y ears o f Delta Xi Cha p ter S isters, the Delta Xi House Corporation Board deeply appreciates your support over the past several years. We have accomplished incredible things together, most notably the renovation of our beloved Chapter House. Our capital campaign, Honoring Our Delta Xi Sisterhood: Building for Another 100 Years, officially concluded on December 31, 2015. Together, we hit our goal and raised $1,022,168! For all our hard work and dedication to this effort, we should be extremely proud. As we transition out of the capital phase of our growth, we must all turn our attention to the operational success of Delta Xi Chapter. We proved our ability to coalesce around a common goal since the momentous start of the capital campaign in 2013. We've spent the past three years reconnecting, building intergenerational friendships, expanding our networks, and living the values of what it means to be a Tri Delta. This year in particular, we are shifting our focus to using those alumnae relationships and resources to achieve operational excellence. Our newly renovated home is a tool to ensure the continuance of Delta Xi Chapter, but the true essence of the sisterhood is the energy of our membership. I urge you to find a way to maintain or increase your involvement with Delta Xi Chapter this year. Quite simply, our mission is to serve each other and our undergraduate sisters. We have numerous opportunities to assist with alumnae relations, job networking, academic or career advising, financial stewardship, and social activities. Please reach out to the members of the House Corporation Board and let us know how you'd like to help. If you made a multi-year pledge to the capital campaign, please ensure you continue payment on your commitment. We still have roughly 20% left to collect, which is more than $200,000! It is essential we receive every dollar pledged so Delta Xi can maintain good financial standing. We are grateful for your support and encouragement and look forward to serving you as we begin another fantastic 100 years of Delta Xi. Loyally, Teresa Keith McKinney '72 tkmckin@gmail.com Delta Xi Turns Attention to Alumnae Involvement Following Capital Campaign Conclusion Perpetuating the Bonds of Sisterhood Two Tri Deltas Help Transform our Special Home T hroughout Delta Xi's capital campaign, Nancy Stough Hillhouse '67 and Teresa Keith McKinney '72 have dedicated their time, finances, energies, and love to the women and the Chapter House of Tri Delta at Mizzou. Their innumerable hours of phone calls, planning meetings, and drives to Columbia brought about a renovated Chapter House that will serve the next generation of sisters. You might think that after all that, Nancy and Teresa would be tired out. But even now, they still talk about Tri Delta with an inspiring spark of enthusiasm. "I feel that I owe so much to Tri Delta," said Nancy. "The opportunities for leadership, my friends, the lifelong sisterhood—these things have shaped my life and who I am today. I want our Tri Delta house to be modern and attractive to new members and I want our collegians to be proud of the home that we have shared. The women I've served with on the House Corporation have become special friends. They are a dedicated group and spend many hours working for the welfare of our chapter." "I understood how important the campaign was to Delta Xi," said Teresa. "I believed in our project of tearing down the annex, replacing bedrooms, and building a dining room that was worthy of our residence. It was very gratifying to see the support that members gave our chapter. The young women I work with are our future and what better way to support them than with our time and energy. I hope they can learn the lesson, from us, of what a perpetual bond of friendship truly means." In working with Tri Deltas from every generation, Nancy and Teresa gained a new perspective on the sorority experience. Though the little details may change, the overarching feeling of sisterhood remains remarkably the same. "The stories I heard about our chapter were all so very similar, no matter the decade," said Teresa. "Living in the house, the bonds of sisterhood, support of friends, cheering on our Tigers, breakups with boyfriends, and studying hard for a test were all similar themes from our time on campus."
