Bruce E. Hughes
'50 entered Chapter
Eternal on September
28, 2015 at his home
in Colorado Springs.
He participated in the
invasions of the Solo-
mon Islands, Palau,
Guam, and Okinawa,
and was honorably
discharged in November of 1945. After
returning to K-State, Bruce received a
degree in architecture and engineering.
Bruce was a member of the First Lutheran
Church, the Associated General Contractors,
the Kissing Camels Golf Club, and Garden
of the Gods Club. He was also eminent
archon during his time at Kansas Beta. Bruce
loved traveling and socializing with friends,
playing bridge and pool, bird hunting,
fishing, flying, and reading. He served on
numerous boards including chairman of
the Penrose Hospital Board, the Advisory
Board of United Banks and Norwest Banks,
the Pikes Peak Humane Society, and for
38 years as the Management Trustee of the
Laborers National Pension Fund.
