8 The Katydid Settling into Spring Zeta Improves Academically, Thrives Philanthropically S pring semester is now in full swing at Kappa Delta! We have officially settled into our beautiful new home and love it. We continue to thank all of our alumnae, parents, and supporters so much for donating to the capital campaign. WELCOMING NEW OFFICERS We have been very busy the past couple of months. We welcomed the new council members into their positions, as well our new 53 appointed officers. These bright women have great visions to lead our Chapter. REWARDED FOR ACADEMICS Kappa Delta members worked very hard this fall and we moved up in our overall ranking to tenth place out of 18 sororities. We maintained a 3.33 GPA and had 56 members achieve a 4.0. Because of this, several Kappa Deltas were invited to attend the President's Reception. We were happy with our improvement, but we are continuing to stress the importance of academics and hope to continue to move even higher this semester. SERVING TUSCALOOSA Recently, we were happy to give back to the Tuscaloosa community by participating in Alpha Gam's clothing drive, Threads. The Chapter donated multiple boxes of clothes, which were distributed to needy families. In addition, we hosted one of our many Girl Scout events by inviting a local Girl Scout troop to our home to decorate Valentine's Day cards. We really enjoyed this opportunity to get to know and mentor the girls. READY TO MEET THE PARENTS Plans are underway for our upcoming Parents' Weekend scheduled for April 15-17. This same weekend we will also be hosting our Shamrock Event, and we are excited to welcome all of our members' parents to Tuscaloosa. CHAMPIONSHIP CELEBRATIONS AND OFFICER EDUCATION Our members had fun ringing in the New Year and were thrilled to celebrate our 16th National Football Championship on January 11! The new council members and I also loved traveling to Orlando, Florida, for the National Collegiate Training Academy in February. It was such a helpful experience for us all, and we enjoyed working with our national advisors. I am extremely proud of all that Kappa Delta has accomplished so far this year and I am confident that we will continue to thrive. I am honored to be the new president and look forward to this opportunity to guide our Chapter to new heights. We are forever grateful for the tremendous alumnae support, and we look forward to seeing many of you at Parents' Weekend.
