Basically, ABC had to eliminate one of its hours of daytime programming by this fall, since it had to open up that hour for Katie Couric's new weekday talk show, which many ABC stations have purchased to start showing when it premieres Sept. 10. Since the program is being planned for an afternoon slot, either "The Chew," "The Revolution" or "General Hospital" had to go. In the end, it was decided "The Revolution" hadn't gotten the traction the network had wanted to see, so that was the one chosen to leave the air. That will happen in July, when ABC introduces an afternoon spinoff of "Good Morning America" as a two-month filler until "Katie" hits the air.
