This election is for Republican, Democrat and Green Party voters. Only voters registered with one of these three participat- ing political parties may vote in the PPE. A special statewide election will be held on Tuesday, May 17 which features two propositions. • Proposition 123 is a proposed amendment to the state constitu- tion. A "yes" vote will have the effect of increasing distributions from the State Land Trust Perma- nent Endowment Fund fiscal years 2016 to 2025 from 2.5 percent to 6.9 percent of average monthly market values to benefit Arizona K- 12 schools, colleges and other insti- tutions, including a $259,266,200 distribution in 2016. A "no" vote will keep the existing 2.5 percent distribution formula; maintaining current funding levels. • Proposition 124 is a proposed amendment to the state constitu- tion regarding to public retirement systems. A "yes" vote will allow the state to adjust certain benefits for pub- lic safety retirees, which would include the replacement of the current permanent benefit increase with a cost of living adjustment based on inflation, capped at 2 percent per year. Get out and vote A "no" vote would maintain the current benefit structure. The Primary Election is set for Aug. 30 and the General Election is Nov. 8.
