Tyson Rd. in Quartzsite Members of the Quartzsite Improvement Association (QIA) presented a $2,225 check to Chief Hess for the injured firefighter Steven Parkerson, 27. Steven, who works part time for the Quartzsite Fire Dept. and the Sa- lome Fire Dept. suffered significant head trauma in an accident as he rode his quad in an offroad race in January. Fundraisers at QIA included a musical variety show, donations from Bingo group, and sales of T-shirts. Other fundraisers locally were a Pancake breakfast collection, a Poker run, Auctions, and more. Donations are being accepted at Quartzsite Fire Dept. Proud Neighbors of Quartzsite (PNQ) held their annual Rock Auction Thursday, March 3rd at the Quartzsite Elementary School Gymnasium. Funds raised will sup- port the eighth grade year-end trip, next year's trip and art projects at the school. People voted for their favorite Rock Art Pieces painted by the students at the school.
