The Primary Election will be held on August 30, 2016. Candidates for office must circulate petitions and gather the required number of signatures to have their name placed on the primary ballot. Nomination packets are now available at Town Hall. Nomination peti- tions may be filed as early as May 2, 2016 and no later than June 1, 2016. Petitions must contain no less than 14 signatures, and 27 maximum. Candidates must file a Statement of Organization for Political Commit- tees, or if one does not anticipate contributions or expenditures to exceed $500, one may file a $500 Threshold Exemption Statement. One of these must be filed before circulating petitions. The following properly executed forms must be submitted to the city/ town clerk for the official filing of one's candidacy no earlier than May 2, 2016, and no later than June 1, 2016: • A Nominating Paper • Affidavit of Qualification (notarized) and a statement that one has read the campaign finance and reporting statutes (signed). • The Local Public Officer's Financial Disclosure Statement (notarized).
