PAGE 3 PI KAPPA PHI W ith the start of yet another spring semester at The University of Alabama, we as a Chapter are excited for the year that lies ahead. Before I indulge in the plans we have in store for this year, I would first like to commend the previous executive council on the work they have done. We ended our fall semester last year by initiating the largest pledge class in Omicron history with 50 outstanding young men. This achievement qualified us to receive the Executive Award at the Mid-Year Leadership Conference. We finished the 2015 calendar year with 5,800 community service hours. This was the highest number of hours out of any UA student organization, both Greek and non-Greek. New Goal Set for CommuNity ServiCe HourS The Brothers of Omicron are very pleased with the success we had last year in number of service hours, but we are not content with staying at that level. We wish to build upon our success of recent years and set a new goal to break our records of last year. The Chapter has set the goal for 2016 of 6,500 community service hours. In addition, the Chapter has again partnered with Sober Living America this semester to raise funds in support of addiction treatment. Last year, the Chapter helped to raise $2,600 for the cause and we plan to raise even more this year. GPa imProvemeNt a HiGH Priority As we settle in to our new scholarship program, we look to continue our advancements in Chapter GPA. With our newly implemented study hours for brothers, our GPA should increase again this semester. We want to create a standard for the house that reaches higher than we ever have before. We do not want to stop until we are consistently recognized at the top in academics for the Greek system. fall reCruitmeNt uNderway It is time again to conduct our recruitment process in preparation for the fall pledge class of 2016. Dates for our annual Hurricane and Riverboat Gamblers parties have been set for March 4 and April 22 respectively. We welcome any referrals of quality young men who will be attending UA in the fall.
