Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 20th when the McMul- len Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts the 23rd Annual Great Ari- zona Outback Chili Cook Off. The event kicks off at 9 AM, when signup begins for the Off Road (4-wheel drive only) Poker Run. You may sign up until 11 AM, all participants must be back in by 2 PM. There is also an equestrian poker run, Tails and Trails, the course is approximately seven miles long, signup begins at 9 AM, and you must be back in by 12:30. You can buy your 50/50 drawing tickets beginning at that time and throughout the day. There are also Chili Cook Off t-shirts to be had. The Salsa Makers Contest begins at 9:30 AM, and the Chili Cookers begin at 11 AM. If you are inter- ested in contesting, remember that you may use fillers in the chili. You may sign up at the event, but you must have a La Paz County Food Handlers card. First place cash prize is $100 for Salsa and $200 for Chili. If you only want to sample their wares, Taster Buttons are available for $4 each, which en- ables you to vote for your favorite salsa and chili. Salsa tasting begins at 12:15 and Chili at 2:15. We are sponsoring our third an- nual Nord Memorial Outback Golf Tournament, to be held at Grease- wood Golf Course, beginning at 9 AM. There will be prizes and drawings awarded. Cost is $20 per golfer, cart extra (private carts encouraged). Browse the Annual Art Show and Exhibit, the Annual Quilt Show, and dozens of Classic Cars. There is entertainment in the form of danc- ers and Wild West Shows. There is music going all day, provided by Kevin James. Now you're hungry!! There are a number of food booths available, all local non-profit organizations. You have choices of chili beans, ham- burgers, hot dogs, Polish sausage, Mexican food and cold drinks. There is a beer garden on site. There will be a "silent auction" at approximately 1:45 PM. Awards will be presented at approximately 3 PM. All these fun events will be held at Centennial Community Cen- ter, 69725 Centennial Park Road (across from the Greasewood Golf Course), in eastern La Paz County, the "Heart of the Arizona Outback". Please NO FOOD or DRINK in the building, no bicycles, skateboards or pets (other than service animals). We'll be looking forward to seeing you on February 20th!! La Paz County Fair is celebrating all of the youth in the community who work hard all year to show off their talents through the La Paz Youth Livestock Show & Auction, 4-H indoor exhibits, the schools in La Paz County, the Miss La Paz County Scholarship Program and Pageant, and the Mish Mash Stu- dios productions. So come grab a corndog or some cotton candy and enjoy the show!
