This month's Artist Spotlight is
Linda Gray, of Ducky Designs
(from her nickname as a child,
Ducky.) Linda has always admired
art, yet it wasn't until she was 60
that she overcame her inhibitions
and took a watercolor class through
the Arizona Western College right
here in Quartzsite.
Linda has been a great contribu-
tion to the community. She belongs
to several art groups and served
as secretary for several years in
the Bouse Art Club. Linda is re-
sponsible for setting up the Artist
program that now provides various
Artist spotlight
artists to show their paintings in
Horizon Community Bank here in
Quartzsite.
She also started the group of Artists
that provided cards and ornaments
for charity called HEARTIST (Art-
ist from the Heart.) The cards and
ornaments where sold around town
to raise money for the Food Bank
of Quartzsite. She continued this
until her husband's failing health
due to his service which prevented
them from returning to Quartzsite
regularly. We are very pleased to
have them visiting this year.
Linda grew up in Kentucky and
joined the Air Force right out of
high school. While stationed in Cal-
ifornia Linda met and married her
husband Don, also in the military.
They had two sons, Bill and Mark.
After retiring from the military,
the couple moved to Oregon. Linda
says they will continue to migrate to
Quartzsite as long as health allows.
