One of the largest junior
rodeos in Northern
California, the Corning Jr.
Rodeo is held each June
at Estil Clark Park.
The rodeo, which
features contestants
ranging from 6 to 18
years old, hosts a variety
of events kicking off with a
hospitality mixer where
the crowning of the
Senior Queen and Little
Miss Rodeo pageants
take place.
The mixer, typically held
the evening before the
rodeo, includes a stick
horse race for children
ages 5 and younger, a
barbecue and the famous
cow-chip bingo.
The rodeo itself is a
two-day event that
includes mutton busting,
steer riding, barrel racing,
pole bending, goat tying,
team roping, steer
stopping, dummy steer
roping, bull riding,
bareback riding, saddle
bronc riding, calf riding,
calf roping and
breakaway roping.
Buckles donated by
area businesses and
community members are
given out to first place
finishers in each event.
The event hosts the
Butch Trimm Memorial
Roping following slack on
Saturday morning, with
proceeds going to the
Butch Trimm annual
scholarship.
The 2010 dates are
June 10-12 and the cost
is $5 for adults and $3 for
children 6-12 and seniors.
