Opening its doors July 2002, Rolling Hills Casino continues to do things on a grand scale and with the Clear Creek Sports Club and the John Daly Signature Course Sevillano Links — ranked No. 7 best new golf course by Golf Digest. The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians built the casino just south of Corning off Interstate 5 at the Liberal Avenue exit. The property boasts two hotels — The Lodge: a Vagabond Inn and Ramada Inn and Suites. They feature 100 rooms and offer jacuzzi suites and easy access to the casino and restaurants. The Lodge has an indoor pool, spa and fitness cen- ter. The Ramada has an outdoor pool and spa and a fitness room. The Travelers Lounge offers plenty of truck and RV parking, marble showers and access to laundry, TV and Internet services. At Clear Creek Sport Club, hunters can take advantage of 1,400 acres of hunting and fishing behind the casino. The club boasts 80-acre Luk Lake that is populated with bass. The wetland areas support a population of mallards, Canadian honkers and other waterfowl. With Carlinos Night Club and Event Center and access to the casino's food service and event planners, the spot is perfect for special occasions. On Saturdays, the night club hosts various acts and Carlinos hosts a fiesta night once a month. The facility can hold up to 500 people. The Timbers Steak House is consid- ered one of the finest restaurants in the north valley. Rolling Hills Buffet serves more than 1,000 people a day. Java City is the casino's own coffee house and gift shop. Rolling Hills hosts a variety of special events throughout the year, such as the Ribs, Rods and Rides hot air balloon fes- tival and the Corning Wine, Food and Art Festival Feb. 26-27. The casino offers smoking and non- smoking sections and provides more than 70,000 square feet of gaming. Facilities include 10 tables, 800 slot machines and a video arcade. The casino is open 24 hours a day and is off Liberal Avenue on Barham Avenue. Additional information is available at 528-3504 or online at www.rollinghillscasino.com. 14 Corning 2010 Rolling Hills Casino Corning 2010 Farm Sanctuary Farm Sanctuary's 300-acre California farm sits on the eastern foothills of the coastal mountain range near Orland in southern Tehama County just minutes south of Corning. Black Butte Lake and recreation area is across the road, 10 minutes west of Interstate 5. A visitor center includes educational displays, a cruelty-free gift shop and a beautiful outdoor pavilion. The animals at Farm Sanctuary love visitors as much as you'll love touring the farm animal shelters. The sanctuaries are home to hundreds of rescued cows, pigs, turkeys and other farm animals. Each has a special story to tell. After meeting the farm animal friends, visitors can browse through the education center, filled with literature, videos, displays and gift items. Tours Guided tours are held on Saturdays, every hour from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., May through October. Cost is $3 for adults, $1 for children 12 and younger and free for children younger than 3.
