The Desert Flyers is a club with about 100 members who enjoy the experience and friendship of flying their radio controlled airplanes. We meet daily, each morning, weather permitting at the James B. Colwell Field located at 780 N. Plymouth Road in Quartzsite. The James B. Colwell Field was named by the town after one of our founding and prominent members. It has a 500 ft. paved runway, a covered shelter used as a windbreak and as a work station, 15 outside workstations, and 4 flight stations. Our monthly business meeting is held the second Wednesday of each month at Jimmy's hangar 1365 Datig Drive at 9am. Membership fees are $10 and membership in the A.M.A. (Academy of Model Aeronautics.)
