O n behalf of the Gamma eta undergraduates, I am pleased to express our full support of A Legendary Past, Ensuring Our Future: Celebrating 90 Years at Mississippi State campaign. We are committed to what the future holds for Gamma eta and take great pride in our history and the reputation our alumni have created for us to uphold. Membership in Pi Kappa Alpha has been the principal part of all our college experiences. It has provided us the initial structure we need to succeed in college and in leadership opportunities, and gave us the best friends and times we could hope for. roughout my time in the chapter, I have seen tremendous improvement in many areas, but most especially in academics. During my freshman year, the chapter had a cumulative GPA of 2.34. In fall 2015, we were able to increase that to a GPA of 2.82, which is above the MSU all-men's average for the first time in five years. rough hard work and dedication, Gamma eta Chapter has made academic excellence a priority. Outside the classroom, members have gone above and beyond. We are proud to boast involvement in a variety of organizations, including the Student Association, Interfraternity Council, campus tours, and at least 15 other clubs and teams on campus. is fall semester, the chapter completed more than 550 hours of community service, which is well above the minimum standard. We have also been successful athletically, participating in numerous intramural leagues and recently bringing home a championship in water polo, as well as placing in both soball and flag football. e biggest accomplishment that I have seen during my time at Pi Kappa Alpha was raising more than $4,500 for the Palmer Home for Children and breast cancer awareness in our first annual Pike Diamond Classic philanthropy event. We saw unbelievable participation from the chapter and the community. Our success serves as a reflection of all the hard work our brothers have completed in pursuit of bettering themselves, the chapter, and the community we live in. e renovations for the chapter house will allow two major things to transpire. First, it will provide members with a state-of-the-art facility to live in, fostering a better atmosphere for members to thrive. Secondly, the renovation will help the chapter be more competitive with the recruitment of new members. Most other Mississippi State fraternity houses have recently been updated and this is our chance stay competitive. It is a goal of the members to leave this chapter better than when we came. at is why we, as a chapter, have elected to contribute $25,000 toward the campaign. With a renovation, the house will be able to fuel brotherhood for years to come. Gamma eta is entering a very critical time in our journey, and we realize that your support is invaluable. We want to share our successes with alumni everywhere because they are yours as much as they are ours. Your time, talent, and treasure will be critical as we undergo this transition in hopes of continuing the tradition of excellence we have worked so hard to create. I ask that you take the time to reconnect with your brothers in hopes of making this house a home for Pi Kappa Alpha of all generations. Fraternally, Austin Walker '13 Chapter President pikepresidentmsu@gmail.com (678) 354-9269 During the first annual Pike Diamond Classic philanthropy event, Gamma eta raised more than $4,500 for the Palmer Home for Children and breast cancer awareness.
