Page 2 F or some, joining a fraternity was a difficult choice. For Matt Larsen '83, becoming a member of Lambda Chi Alpha was natural. Hear- ing about the chapter's excellence and receiving the warm welcomes of Art Endsley '81 and W. Brent Fuson '79 easily convinced him. There were many memories that shaped who he is today, but he would love to relive Conclave in Indianola, Iowa. "What a great weekend and experience getting together with other chapters and realizing how special the chapter at MU was," Matt remi- nisces. "We stacked up pretty good against those other chapters represented. It made us all proud to be where we were." Gamma Kappa prepared him for life after college, and learn- ing from the upperclassmen played a large role in developing his team mentality. He remembers Bill Spooner '80 going over the logistics for Watermelon Fest his freshman year. He truly admired his level of maturity and attention to detail. He also recalls Jerry Hewitt '80 bring- ing in the Homecoming trophy and giving an inspiring speech about what it meant to the chapter. He keeps involved in the Fraternity by helping out with the annual Homecoming tailgate. Each year, he is enthusiastic to get back to the house and see what the undergraduates are up to. "These are the young men who are carrying the torch for us," Matt says. "Stopping by and being a part of their lives—a small connection—enriches not only their lives, but ours." He encourages everyone to come out for Homecoming 2016, as it marks the fifth annual LCA Homecoming Hog Roast Tailgate. Matt and his wife, Amy, live in in Kansas City, Mo. They have two children, Sam (23) and Mick (20). He works for Philips Healthcare as a territory manager covering 11 states. In his spare time, he enjoys barbecuing, hunting, fishing, and gardening.
