LYONS Terry A. Lyons, age 62, of Ellenboro, passed away Sun., Dec. 20, 2015. Born Nov. 11, 1953 in London, England, he was a son of the late James & Shirley Lyons. Terry served during the Vietnam War in the US Army Special Forces. He retired as a Colonel after 20 years of service. He attended Caroleen United Methodist Church and enjoyed read- ing. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Myron Lyons. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Lyons; 3 daugh- ters, Jessica Lyons of Lynnwood, Washington, Becky Lyons of Houston, Texas & Janna Thompson of Mt. Vernon, Washington; 2 sons, Joshua Lyons of Spindale & Zack Lyons of Fayetteville. He is also sur- vived by a granddaughter. No formal services are planned. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements. RONALD "CHRIS" RADFORD Ronald "Chris" Radford, age 53, of Forest City, passed away Tues., Dec. 29, 2015. Born October 2, 1962 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Robert "Bob" Radford & Jessie Hutchins Flowe who resides in Forest City. Chris was an avid golfer, having spent many a weekend on the course. He was a fan of all sports, however, a diehard fan of NASCAR, supporting Earnhardt Sr. & Jr. He was also an avid Miami Dolphins fan. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Brent Ammon. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Pamela Elton Radford; 2 daughters, Michelle Radford Dorsey of the home & Brandi Radford Holtsclaw & husband, Robbie of Bostic; step-fa- ther, Dr. J.B. Flowe of Forest City; brother, Robert "Robbie" Radford of Forest City; 2 sisters, Sharon Radford Causby of Rutherfordton & Kim Radford Ross of Forest City. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren; 6 other nieces & nephews & 6 great nieces & nephews. A memorial service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements. SAMUEL RAY OWENS Mr. Samuel Ray Owens, age 55 of Rutherfordton, passed away December 24, 2015. He is predeceased by his parents, Samuel V. & Georgia Bell Silver Owens; 4 brothers, Roger, Bobby, Kenneth & Clifford; 1 sister, Betty. Samuel is survived by 1 sister, Mary O. Jolly of Marion; numerous cousins, nieces & nephews. He enjoyed fishing, doing devotions at the Henderson Care Center, his Church & he also taught Sunday School. No Services are planned at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to Robert S. Morgan, Jr., Funeral Service Licensee, LLC of Fallston. ERNEST LEE SIMS, SR., Mr. Ernest Lee Sims, Sr., 63, passed away December 22, 2015. A native of Rutherford County, he is predeceased by his parents, Jonas & Dorothy Sims & a brother, Douglas W. Sims, all of Rutherfordton. He is survived by a sister, Bobbie Atchley of Shingle Hollow; 3 chil- dren, Ernest Lee Sims, Jr., Amanda Sims Mckinney & Jennifer Sims Tomblin all of Rutherfordton; 4 grand- children. Morgan, Jr., Funeral Service Licensee, LLC of Fallston. HAROLD ROBERT LOWMAN H a r o l d R o b e r t Lowman, 71, of Forest City, passed away Fri., Jan. 1, 2016. A native of Lewis County, WV, he was the son of the late James & Mary Virginia Allen Lowman. Harold was a retired nursing home activ- ities director, a member of Spindale United Methodist Church & enjoyed the Church's Young at Heart group. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Brenda Ammons Lowman of the home; brother, Thomas W. Lowman of Atlanta, GA; a number of nieces & nephews, & spe- cial friends Scott & Alicia Burnette of Forest City and Pat & Barbara Ammons of Horner, WV. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by sis- ters Mary Regina Myles Hunkins & Barbara Lee Hevener & brother, John Wesley Lowman. Memorial services were held at Crowe's Mortuary with Rev. Ross O'Neal officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spindale United Methodist Church, Christmas Tree Fund P.O. Box 241, Spindale, NC 28160. Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the Lowman family. JOHN RAY GETTYS John Ray Gettys, age 77, of Ellenboro, passed away Thurs., Dec. 31, 2015. Born June 25, 1938 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Bill Gettys & Nannie Sue Morehead Gettys. He worked for Hamrick Mills-Musgrove Plant for many years & in textiles total of 45 years before retirement. He was a faithful mem- ber of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee, Sunday School Secretary & a member of the Carolina Faith Riders Ministry. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Gladys Toney Gettys & an infant grand- son, Ethan Michael Gettys. Survivors include son, Mike Gettys & wife, Melissa of Ellenboro; brother, Bobby Gettys, Sr. & wife, Carol also of Ellenboro; uncle, Clifford Gettys of Hendersonville. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren,. Funeral services were conducted at the Campfield Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Huffman officiating. Interment fol- lowed in the church cem- etery. Memorial donations are suggested to the Carolina Faith Riders Ministry or to the Campfield Baptist Church Building Fund, 369 Campfield Church Rd, Ellenboro, NC 28040. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements. DOUG HUNNICUTT Stephen Douglas Hunnicutt, age 79, of Bostic passed away at his home on January 4, 2016. He was a native of Spindale. He was preced- ed in death by his par- ents Jonah and Lucille Hunnicutt. He was a life long member of Spencer Baptist Church. He enjoyed a 55 year career in the retail automotive business including owner- ship of Hunnicutt Ford in Forest City for 30 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patsy Fagan Hunnicutt; his son, Todd Hunnicutt and his wife, Maria, of Bostic; and beloved grandson, Cade. He is also survived by spe- cial nieces and nephews. Doug was known to be a devout Christian who enjoyed the automotive business, bird hunting and raising cattle. He was hard-working and dedicat- ed to his family. The service to cele- brate his life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Spencer Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spencer Baptist Church, 187 N. Oak Street, Spindale, NC 28160. Crowe's Mortuary is serving the family.
