The following are a handful of volun- teering opportunities for those retirees who want to give back and make the most of their retirements. Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofi t organization that builds and repairs homes for people in need. It has a pro- gram titled "Care-A-Vanners" in which volunteers typical- ly spend 2 weeks traveling around the United States and Canada in rented RVs building and restoring homes. Vol- unteers must pay their own way and bring along their own supplies, such as work shoes, gloves, tool belts, and some tools (power tools are typically provided by the local Habi- tat for Humanity chapter), and free or low-cost RV parking is provided by Habitat for Humanity. Adventurous retirees who enjoy hitting the open road may fi nd "Care-A-Vanners" matches their love of travel with their desire to give back. Visit http://rutherfordhfh.org or call 828-248-3178 for more volunteer opportunities. Hospice of Rutherford County The following is a list of current volunteer opportuni- ties: Special Events Volunteer, Patient / Family Volunteer, Offi ce Volunteer, Nursing Home Volunteer, Hospice Re- sale Shop, We Honor Veterans Program, Hospice House Volunteer, Grounds / Maintenance, Faith in Action Repre- sentative, Eleventh Hour Volunteer, Pet Therapy, Feet on the Street. Visit http://hospiceofrutherford.org to download our Volunteer Opportunities PDF for additional information. To sign up for any volunteer opportunities, call 828-245-0095. Service vacations Retirement is often seen as a time to travel and see the world, and many retirees have started to combine that love of travel with service opportunities. Globe Aware, a 501(c)(3) nonprofi t organization, develops short-term volunteer programs in international environments. Each activity aims to promote cultural awareness and promote sustainability in needy com- munities. Volunteers work to address issues identifi ed by the host communities as particularly pressing, interacting with the local residents in ways that are often impossible on more traditional va- cations. ~Article provided by Metro Editorial DENTURES PALMETTO DENTURE CARE Dr. Don Gregory • Dr. Adam Rutter Dr. Keith Fields • Dr. Robert Stark Spartanburg 1-864-582-4308 SAME DAY SERVICE FREE Adjustments Lab on Premises Complete Set of Dentures............from $ 399 Partial Dentures...........................from $ 285 Full Mouth X-ray............................... $ 55 Simple Extraction per tooth............... $ 75 Insurance Claims Accepted.
