Delta Chi Fraternity at Kansas State University WINTER 2015 Alumni Support Makes Delta Chi Experience Possible, Rewarding, and Memorable How Will You Make an Impact? D elta Chi at Kansas State now overlaps five decades on campus, three charters, and more than 700 brothers initiated since our founding in 1962. With our second President's Cup awarded to our chapter this year, we are proud to once again be one of the top Delta Chi chapters in the country, and one of the most respected and well-known fraternities at Kansas State University. As I reflect on my college experience, many of my strongest college memories involve times with my brothers: my initiation and later initiating new brothers; getting into a snowball fight at Tattarax Apartments and the resulted patched windows; gutting and refinishing the 508 Sunset house in 1998; comforting a brother whose sister was in a car accident; mom's day auctions; bowl game road trips (and Dan Hammons '98 smoking while pumping gas); senior pub crawls (yes, plural). The list continues… If you spent five minutes right now, you could probably jot down a whole list of your own great Delta Chi memories. As the new president of the K-State Delta Chi Educational Foundation, my goal is to continue to grow the financial support we are able to provide to our collegiate brothers each year. By doing so, we will be able to help even more men create their own great memories for years to come. The Foundation continues to recognize our young brothers for their great work, and the only way to continue to provide that support is to have brothers like you donate. Your support will allow a young man to experience fraternity done right and will help pave his way to a brighter future for Delta Chi. Please include our Foundation in your giving this coming year; it will impact the lives of young men more than you know. If you are interested in including Kansas State Delta Chi in your estate planning, please do not hesitate to contact me. In the Bond, Matt Killingsworth '02 Foundation President killingsworth.matt@gmail.com O n the evening of Saturday, October 24, brothers from all five decades that Delta Chi has been at Kansas State joined K-State faculty members and parents in attending a three-part anniversary celebration. The event was to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the International Fraternity, the fifth anniversary of the current chapter's colonization, and a celebration of being on the K-State campus for more than 50 years. We learned this summer that we would have one more thing to celebrate: Kansas State winning the chapter's second President's Cup! This is the highest award presented to a chapter for overall chapter programing excellences, and it was only awarded to three chapters out of the 120 chapters this year. In addition to the group awards, Mike Dichiser '95 was presented with the Meritorious Service Award, which he received last year for his dedicated service as president of the Kansas State Delta Chi Housing Corporation. The International Fraternity and Kansas State Delta Chi Chapter honored Tom Haney '70 with this year's Meritorious Service Award for his service as legal advisor for the International Fraternity for 12 years. Prior to serving as the International Fraternity legal advisor, Tom served for many years as president of the Kansas State Delta Chi Housing Corporation. John Kattenberg '03, president of the Alumni Board of Trustees, was awarded 2015-16 Alumnus of the Year. Former Alumni Board of Trustees President Clint Bradbury '04 was awarded 2014- 15 Alumnus of the Year.
