Hazel was born in Montreal, Que- bec, Canada on July 10, 1913 and lived there until she moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1941 after her husband was killed in a machine shop accident. She, along with her husband and son, immigrated to the United States, settling in southern California in 1951. She became a naturalized citizen in 1959. She started work at the US Post Of- fice as the first female letter carrier following her 2nd husband died in an automobile accident. She retired from the Post Office in 1978. In 1980 she and her 3rd husband started RVing full time traveling around the US and Canada, where she still had family. They spent their first winter in Florida; then came to Quartzsite every winter after that. In 1998 they sold their 5th wheel trailer and settled down to stay in Quartzsite. Hazel is survived by her husband Joe, son and daughter-in-law Erin & Brigitte Jerrett of Arkansas; grand- daughters Faith (Joh) Hufft, of Texas; Jami Jerrett (Jason Davenport) of California; and four great grandchil- dren, Zachary USMC, Donivan, Texas and Angel & Jayden of California. She may be gone, but she'll forever be in our hearts. Memorial Gathering for Nancy Ledoux Sunday, December 6th 1pm-3pm at the Quartzsite Senior Center Nancy Louise Ledoux, née Schaffart, 76, Prineville, Ore., and Quartzsite, Ariz., for- merly of St. Clair, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the home of Gabe and Dianne Hendrix in Prineville, Ore. Many people knew the beautiful person with the gravelly voice. Nancy came to Quartzsite 28 years ago and was a friend to everyone she met. She was a long time worker at Quartzsite Bakery and was an avid bingo player. Please join us for fellowship in memory of our dear friend, Nancy: Sunday, Dec. 6th, 1pm- 3pm at the Quartzsite Senior Center. Nancy was born in Lyons, Neb., raised in the Midwest, and graduated from high school in St. Clair in 1957. After high school, Nancy enlisted in the Navy. When her time in the Navy was done, she met and married Andre Ledoux. Together they had two children, Dianne and John Ledoux. In her earlier years, Nancy lived in Cove, Ore., where she raised her two chil- dren. She worked in La Grande, Ore., for The Observer Newspaper, then 17 years for Terry Trailers. Around 1985, Nancy became a snowbird, traveling with her companion, Fred Gilbert, to Quartzsite, Ariz. After Fred passed, Nancy continued her gypsy life, living half-time in Prineville and Quartzsite. Her independence was highlyprized. She loved traveling in the summers to other parts of the country visiting family and friends, driving across the United States and back. Nancy is survived by one daughter, Dianne Hendrix and husband Gabe; one son, John Ledoux; one brother, Raymond Schaffart and wife Ruth; two aunts, Marge Duple and Barb Chamberlain; three grandchildren, Evan Hendrix, Derek Hendrix and Kara Ledoux; two great-grandchildren, Raylee and Kenzie Ledoux, and Emma Hendrix, expected July 4, 2015. Many others would consider Nancy Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma from the family of Fred Gilbert. In addition, she had another family in Quartzsite, Ariz., made up of her friends from the past 30 years of being a snowbird. Nancy will be laid to rest by her family in Cove Cemetery, Cove, Ore., at a later time. If you would like to post on Nancy's Facebook page some of your favorite memories of her, they can be printed to share at the gathering, or you can email to nanooqtz@gmail.com. There will also be a celebration of life in the fall of 2015 in Quartzsite, Ariz. If you have any questions, please con- tact Dianne Ledoux Hendrix through Facebook. • Birth • Obituary • Anniversary Place it FREE in the: Desert Messenger! 928-916-4235 Got something to share?
