The Chik-Nik is annual event to raise funds for the "Rose and Gary Fraser Memo- rial Fund." The Memorial Fund was created to assist local Cadet Applicants with Scholarships, as needed, for the AWC Firefighter/ EMT Academy. So far your local VFW as helped 4 students with financial help. Two are currently nationally certified EMT's and Amanda Hess, the Valedictorian of her graduating class, is certified as a Medic and serves Quartzsite and Salome in their Fire Departments. The Memorial Fund is designed, as funds become available, to not only assist students but to help the families of First Responders who may need financial assistance if a spouse becomes injured. We will be able to help with finances to gap the time lag until insurance kick ins. These Men and Women put their lives on the line for us every day and definitely deserve our respect and thanks' This is just a small way we can help for work well done. Come enjoy some good barbecue food on Saturday, Dec. 5th from 1pm -4pm at the Quartzsite Fire Station, corner of Hwy. 95 & Tyson.
