"Passport to Adventure-Ex- plore La Paz County" is a project of APS and La Paz Economic De- velopment Corporation Focused Future II Tourism and Hospitality Task Team. Mary Hamilton, Parker Area Chamber of Commerce Director said, "It's been such a wonderful experience working with the all the chambers from around the county on this project." 50,000 brochures, or "Passports," are being distrib- uted throughout the county at local businesses and Chamber of Com- merce offices county-side. As explained by the Team's Chair- person Lynda Goldberg, people will be able to take their Passports to "stampable" events and attractions around the county. When a partici- pant gets 3 stamps at events in any community, they earn a "Boarding Pass" ticket into the prize drawing which will be held at the La Paz County Fair in March. Winners need not be present to win but will need to make arrangements to pick up any prizes won. Quartzsite events that are "stam- pable" include the Santa's Work- shop Craft Show, Soup & Chowder Festival, Food Truck/Music Fes- tival, Hi Jolly Daze Parade, BBQ Competition, QIA Gem Show, QIA Gold Show, Stage Stop Mu- seum, Gunny's Military Museum, & more! County-wide events include: Best in the Desert Racing Association off-road races in Parker, the CRIT Museum, the Camp Bouse Dedica- tion in February, the Great Arizona Outback Chili Cook-Off in February in Salome and much more! Members of the Tourism Team in- clude the Parker, Bouse, McMullen Valley, and both Quartzsite Cham- bers of Commerce, the Colorado River Indian Tribes, individuals, and the La Paz Economic Develop- ment Corporation. For more informa- tion, visit www.LaPazCountyPass- port.com Passports available at local chambers UofA LaPaz County Extension to conduct Horti- culture Classes in Quartzsite The University of Arizona La Paz County Extension office will be conducting the Urban Home Hor- ticulture (Master Gardener) course in Quartzsite starting January 6th and continuing for thirteen weeks. This is an extensive course and is designed to educate residents of the county to gain enough horti- cultural knowledge to be able to assist their neighbors with land- scape questions. This is a nation wide program conducted thru Land Grant Universities. While the program is designed as a volunteer effort, interested permanent and Horticulture classes planned in Quartzsite winter visitors seeking personal improvement are welcome.
