Elsie Zantow McBride '49 has settled in a retired living complex, Sunny Crest Village, in Sioux Falls after moving from Howard, S.D. Elsie belongs to Hilltop United Methodist Church where she spends time sewing and knitting with friends, giving away quilts and crafts to various needy causes. "Thank you for keeping in touch. I no longer drive so am unable to attend USD functions." Lucille Connaughton Van Valkenburg '51 retired from the U.S. Customs Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center as an instructor in 2006. She settled in Scottsdale, Ariz., to be near her daughter and four grandchildren. Lucille is active in church activities, the Republican Club, and as a volunteer for David Schweikert, the congressman from her area. E-mail: lucillevan@cox.net Donna Heggelund Jensen '66 and her husband, Denny, are retired and living in Summit, S.D. She taught for 43 years; 41 in special education. They have four grown children and eight beautiful grandchildren. Their son manages a hunting preserve by Armour, S.D., and she cooks for the groups. The season runs from September 1 to March 31. E-mail: jenddsen@tnics.com Dee Ann Bonacker Stevens '70 has worked for the State Bar of South Dakota for 37 years, and is retiring in July 2016 to move to Sioux Falls with her husband, Bill. They are excited to finally be living near family, especially their daughter, Melissa, her husband, Scott, and two granddaughters, Evelyn Ann (4) and Mae Virginia (2). Melissa is a dentist in Sioux Falls and Scott is an orthodontist there. Dee Ann already has a new townhouse off S. Minnesota Ave. and 81st in Sioux Falls and spends as much time there as possible. She works part-time in her private practice with trauma survivors. Additionally, she is president of the board of her son's high school baseball team. Michelle lives in Scottsdale, Ariz. Virginia Weisbecker Noel '83 reports that her daughter, Mary, pledged AXD this fall! She loves hearing all about the chapter from her. Virginia lives in Minneapolis, Minn. While completing that degree she had two little girls who will hopefully go through recruitment in the future! Collegiate Scholarship Fundraising Drive T his past April, $20,000 in scholarships were awarded to chapter members.
