Wilson '52 W hen asking Xave Jacoby '12 about his thoughts on Mu of DKE, it's clear he views his Fraternity membership as a special opportunity. DKE has not only provided him with some of his closest friends, but created a unique tie to the university he loves. "You are given the opportunity to join a group of individuals that truly care for one another," says Xave. "It also provides alumni with a way to stay connected and preserve a tradition that has been in place since 1856." Xave's first encounter with DKE began his freshman year when he played club soccer with several upperclassmen who would eventually join Mu upon graduation. The bonds these young men formed filled a longing in Xave to create meaningful friendships while at Colgate. When he received his invitation to the join Mu as an alumnus, he was thrilled. Xave's younger brother, Nicholas '14, was recently initiated into the brotherhood over Homecoming weekend. Today, Xave is an analyst at HFF, a provider of capital markets transaction services to the commercial real estate industry. He's on the board of the Mu of DKE Foundation and is the era captain for Colgate's Presidents' Club Membership Committee for the classes of 2012- 15, where he works with a group of Presidents' Club volunteers to promote giving back to Colgate and increasing Presidents' Club membership. He is also a class agent for the Mu of DKE campaign. It's clear Xave is generous in dedicating his time and talents to Colgate. Mu of DKE's Future Depends on Us $1,899,496 Raised toward Capital Campaign, More Needed to Achieve Project Goals W hat image comes to mind when you think of Mu of DKE? For us, without a doubt, it's our iconic and historic Temple. This remarkable structure is not only a physical symbol of our common bond and continued vibrancy, it is the place where we gather to share in the ritual of DKE and strengthen our ties as brothers. Whenever we step foot into the Temple, we can't help but feel proud of our Chapter's rich 150-year history. Throughout the last 15 decades, brothers took great care to preserve the Temple so men like us could benefit from DKE just as they did. They did not fail in their duty to preserve the Temple for others to enjoy, and now the torch has been passed. It is up to us to ensure the Temple remains for the next generation of Dekes. If you received and read our recent campaign brochure, you know the repairs the Temple requires are extensive, and that a property endowment to address future maintenance is a necessity. That is why achieving our fundraising goal is critical. We have now raised $1,899,496 from 155 contributors, which represents just 16% of our alumni base. Compared to the 25% average participation of other Greek organizations, we know Mu of DKE can meet or exceed this amount. As a Mu of DKE member, you know that our Chapter places a significant emphasis on helping others. That is why a large portion of our dollars raised will go toward a scholarship endowment that will support community project grants, provide student and alumni scholarships, and much more. Don't miss the opportunity to play a role in this historic time in Mu of DKE's history. Those contributing $5,000 or more will have their names on the donor plaque that will prominently hang in our restored Temple. Submit your five- year pledge today using the envelope enclosed within this newsletter. Payments can be spread over a five-year period and now can be made easily online at www.mudke.org. If you have already contributed to the campaign, we thank you for your generosity and ask that you consider increasing your original pledge, or even move to the next, higher level of giving. Your additional contributions will ensure Mu approaches our future from a position of strength. In the Bonds, Barry Ridings '74 Sean F. Devlin '05 Campaign Chairman Foundation Chairman Nicholas '14 and Xave '12 Jacoby.
