FAYETTEVILLE faces OF BENJAMIN MAJOR, FIRE CHIEF, FAYETTEVILLE Chief Major first moved to Ft. Bragg as a "military brat" in 1971 and to Fayetteville in 1977. "I recall the responses to the various businesses in the downtown area as a young firefighter assigned to old Station 1 on Bow St.," recalled Major. "Since then, I've watched the downtown area as it evolved into a vibrant focal point of the city, where citizens of all ages can come enjoy events, features and learn more about our communities." A few things you might not know about him: photography is his hobby and he loves to laugh and claims to be a prankster at times. His last favorite read was John C. Maxwell's "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leader- ship." "My iPhone contains a variety of genres of music, but my favorite music is from the 70's and early 80's," said Major. KAYCEY HALL, MISS FAYETTEVILLE 2012 Born and raised in Erwin, North Carolina and now a Buies Creek resi- dent, Kaycey is a student at Campbell University. "Throughout my child- hood, our family visited the big city of Fayetteville almost weekly to eat at restaurants like Hudson Bay," recalled Hall. Kaycey knows how to rise above challenges. At five she broke her hip in an ATV accident and was told it would be next to impossible for her to walk again. "My miracle taught me one of my most treasured lessons: to have a little faith and to keep that faith through the good times and the bad times," she said. The CityView team was excited to hear that Kaycey and the other con- testants vying for Miss Fayetteville used our magazine to study up on all things Fayetteville before the round of interviews with local judges. C.J. WILLIAMS, N.C. STATE BASKETBALL GUARD C.J. Williams is enjoying this year's NCAA Tournament success with the Wolfpack, but he started out his game right here in Fayetteville. He shared with us one of his fond memories growing up here included go- ing to the 71st Round-About Skating Rink. With life on the road, classes and social life, C.J. maintains balance in his life through time management skills. CityView asked C.J. who is on his iPod these days and although he has many favorites, right now he enjoys the tunes of Lil' Wayne. C.J. Williams scored 14 points in the recent winning game against Georgetown University that allowed the Wolfpack to advance into the Sweet Sixteen. CityViewNC.com | 69
