March 21, 2012 American Bonanza Gold Corp. (ABGC) announced the Copperstone gold mine placed its irst shipment of gold bearing concentrates. The mine is located off Hwy. 95, 9 miles north of Quartzsite. In a press release issued by Ameri- can Bonanza Gold it states, "The irst concentrate shipment consists of 31.2 tons of concentrate grading an average of 22.8 ounces per ton of gold, contain- ing an estimated 712 ounces of gold in concentrate. Gold content grades in the concentrates are over double the most optimistic expectations, and Bonanza continues to pursue further improve- ments to the gold grade in concentrate." As of March 16, the current market price for one-ounce of gold is $1665.70. ABGC began leasing the Copperstone mine in 1995 and renewed a 10-year lease in 2005. Previously, Cyprus Minerals operated an open pit mine between 1987 and 1993 at Copperstone. Production was almost 500,000 ounces of gold dur- ing those years. The mine closed in 1993 at the economic limits of open pit mining. The company's website states the crushing and grinding facilities and the gold processing plant have completed commissioning and have recently oper- ated for one week at 79 percent of the 450 tons per day design capacity during the inal week of January. The gold-bearing concentrates have been produced during the mine and pro- cessing plant ramp up process, during We're here for the WHOLE season! Bonanza's near term objec- tive is to achieve the design gold produc- tion rate of approximately 3,000 ounces of gold per month, and the Company is encouraged to experience continued improvements to throughput as the miners and processing plant operators gain familiarity with the operation, and optimization of the mine and processing plant continues. As part of the optimiza- tion program to improve the gold grades in concentrate, a Gemini table has been installed and has been in use for about one month. Recently, a second Knelson concentrator has been installed, and is currently being brought on-line and op- timized for best performance. Plans have been formulated for resource expansion drilling. The Bonanza-owned underground drilling rig has been refur- bished and will be delivered to Copper- stone in the next week. While prelimi- nary in nature, the current exploration plan has the goal of now commencing underground resource expansion drill- ing during April of 2012. Drilling has been re-scheduled by one month to allow for the installation of all underground in- frastructure needed for the drill. Bonanza is operating the newly con- structed Copperstone gold mine in Ari- zona. For more information please visit Bonanza's website at www.americanbonanza.com. Nice turnout for Gene Clark Memorial Cruise In By Joanne Winer The weather cooperated just long enough for the planned Gene Clark memorial Cruise In and Barbecue held at the Fire Station on Saturday March 17. The Cruise In started at 11 am at the Shell Station, with 50 antique, vin- tage and classic vehicles meeting there for the parade around town, going up and down Main Street and going past where Gene lived on Moon Mountain Road to end up at the Fire Station on Plymouth Road. All the vehicles lined up in front of the station, and among them was Gene's own "Tweety Bird", driven in his honor by his son- in- law Tom Barnett. Gene's daughter Gina Barnett, had made a beautiful display of all Gene's pictures and awards for his car, and had it set up in the classroom at the station. He was a regular attendee of the Cruise Ins held at the Shell Station over the past few years, and will be sadly missed by his friends and fellow car enthusiasts. The barbecue was hosted by the Quartzsite Fire Department, and the cooking and serving were done by volunteers and fi refi ghters who set it up in the bay of the station so people could eat inside. Many door prizes were given out donated by local busi- nesses, with some also brought over from Bouse by fellow enthusiasts. The event was sponsored by Cruise In en- thusiasts as well as organized by Paul Carnevale, manager of the Shell Sta- tion and founder of this event, along with Tony Carnevale and other friends. They all wanted to honor the memory of this wonderful friend and family man who always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone, and was very well liked in Quartzsite. Over 200 people came out to honor him and share a great meal in his memory.
