March 21, 2012 Don't keep your heap! March, 2012 - The economy is show- ing signs of recovery even with the rising cost of gas. Many people who held on to their car during the reces- sion are now looking to replace it with a more fuel effi cient one. If you are one of those people, you have to fi gure out what to do with your car. If your vehicle does not get good gas mileage, has a lot of miles, is more than 5 years old or is not in good condition, the dealership won't offer you much for it as a trade in. They won't want it because there is no demand for it. It will be diffi cult to sell it privately for the same reason. One alternative is to sell it for a couple of hundred dollars to a junk yard. A better alternative is to donate your car to charity. Cars4Charities will gladly take your old car, no matter what shape it is in. In return for your gen- erosity, you will get a tax deduction of $500 or more. They have hundreds of charities that can be helped by your car donation. For details, please go to http://www.cars4charities.org/ or call 866.448.3487. www.DesertMessenger.com Restaurant Review Aloha Quartzsite friends, and travelers, Hubby and I have been here in Quartzsite since Decem- ber. During that time we have tried many of the restau- rants in town. I am a true believer that if restaurant is good, that news should be shared with others. The restaurant I have chosen to share with you is the Palo Verde. It is really not much to look at; I would say a comfortable laid back look. But the service and the food are all top quality. I had a Chicken Fried Steak. It was wonderful. The meat was tender and juicy. The breading was just right not doughy, crispy and full of fl avor.Luscious, creamy mashed potatoes, real ones not that instant stuff. The right amount of a lovely, smooth, just right spiced, white gravy. Just writing about it makes me hungry. My husband had the ham steak dinner. I could tell he enjoyed it, he didn't say a word, but he had this blissful look on his face while he chewed his food. Now after that marvelous meal if you have room you will want to try their pies. The pies are another enormous delight for your mouth. The wait service is excellent. We have had Callie several times. Thank you Callie for the fast and expert service, making our meal truly enjoyable. Just wanted to share experi- ence with you all. Sharon Murphy The Hawaiian Travelers. Look forward to sharing with you all again next Fall. Page 13 Receiving deliveries in Quartzsite Receiving packages from UPS or FedEx can be quite challenging for Quartz- site residents and snowbirds. UPS drops packages at the Post Of- fi ce, and the PO won't deliver or put in in a PO Box unless the box number is included. Be sure when ordering mer- chandise online that you have both your Post Offi ce box and your physical address. For those receiving mail in the Annex, make note of the two zip codes. Annex is 85359, while the main PO and delivery to physical address is 85346.
