Page 12 THOUGHTBUSTER.COM How are you walking in the world? How we walk in the world can be seen through noticing if we are stressed or if we are at ease. The world can only be balanced if we can become balanced. Below are six examples of when you feel stressed or afraid, and how you can change those feelings to stay at ease. I invite you to become attentive in watching these in your daily life. By simply observing you will create a shift and move toward a more relax state of being. 1. We feel stressed when we feel alone, unsupported and separate. We feel empowered when we feel connected, supported and whole. 2. We feel stressed when we need to be in control of life, relationships, jobs, health and even our games. We feel empowered when we let go and are fl exible, when we are creative, trust- ing, and having joy in our life. 3. We feel stressed when ideas and thoughts challenge us with a feeling of being attacked or afraid. We feel empow- ered when new insights, solu- tions, or ideas fl ow into our mind; when we keep fo- cused on looking for answers - when we keep dreaming our dreams. 4. We feel stressed when we're unable to accept or digest life, when we're feeling a dislike or mistrust with the process of life –when we're unable to see the humor. 5. We feel empowered when we can ac- cept life and digest new ideas into our life, when we're able to love and trust the process. 6. We feel stressed when our inner and outer experiences disturb our daily life, when we thrive on creating drama or we're busy blaming others. We feel empowered when our aware- ness of our self and the world grows with love and the abundance of creat- ing joy. "The only real failure in life is not being true to the best one knows", Buddha. www.DesertMessenger.com We all know when we are stressed or at ease. From my years as a Transpersonal Therapist and taking hours and hours of continuing CEU credits, I studied Cognitive Therapy, NLP and Emo- tional Freedom. Cognitive therapy is just one of the successful ways for a person to train the brain. Learning how to respond versus react can make a dynamic difference in the success of every facet of life. Here are two cognitive techniques from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (founder Aaron T. Beck) to help remind you to step back and respond versus react when you feel emotionally changed. Say STOPP and think of a stop sign then do the following. STOPP! Stop! Take a breath Observe – what am I reacting to? Where is my focus of attention? Pull back – put in some per- spective –What's another way of look- ing at this? Practice what works! – What will help most? When you feel stressed, say Improve. Then go through the letters and see which one is right for you in that mo- ment.
