DELTA TAU DELTA Page 2 the success of the chapter has significantly impacted his involvement with Delta Alpha as an alumnus, and he assists the chapter as a recruitment advisor. "It is a pleasure to be able to give back to the chapter, and being able to help with recruitment is exciting. The most enjoyable part of advising is helping our recruitment teams develop a strategy and watching them execute that strategy using processes we have employed for the last decade or so. Seeing them work hard on behalf of the chapter makes it worth every minute," he says. As an alumnus, Forrest cherishes his continued involvement and leadership in Delta Alpha as a recruitment advisor. He maintains connections with Delta Alpha brothers, communicating with several of them on a daily basis, and makes it a priority to attend the Oklahoma versus Texas game every year. Forrest highly encourages alumni to reconnect and become more involved with the chapter. He says, "It is important for the undergraduates to feel supported and feel like they are part of an organization that alumni want to stay involved with. I believe the chapter's success is attributed primarily to the leadership of our house corporation and our undergraduate members striving to maintain and advance the chapter's rich history on campus." Forrest works as the balance sheet coordinator in the statements and consolidations group at ConocoPhillips in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. When he is not hard at work, Forrest loves to golf, watch sports, and spend quality time with friends and family. Forrest married his wife, Sarah, whom he met through friends during his time in Delta Alpha. You can contact Forrest at forrest.klein@yahoo.com. Continuing a Tradition of Excellence (Continued from page 1) I t is a great time to be a Delt at OU! We are proud to announce that Delta Alpha Chapter now has over 220 active members on campus, making Delta Alpha the largest Delta Tau Delta chapter in the nation. Thanks to the very hard work of our summer recruitment team and the guidance of our recruitment advisor, Forrest Klein '11, we recently signed a 2015 freshman class of 46 men. Our chapter continues to demonstrate that we have the ability to recognize and recruit talented young men who will become outstanding members of our fraternity and the university community. In addition to an excellent freshman class, the upperclassmen of Delta Alpha are some of the most intelligent, involved, and honorable men on this campus. We have six student Congress chairmen, the programming director of Soonerthon, CAC representatives, IFC delegates, Camp Crimson SGLs, OU Integrity Council members, and Student Government members, just to name a few. "Committed to Lives of Excellence" is the mission statement of our fraternity, and at Delta Alpha we try to embody this commitment on a daily basis. A big part of it is our dedication to community service and philanthropic work, for which Delta Alpha Chapter has received several awards from the University. We host our annual Delt Dive event in the fall (which, for some of you older Delts, is now a very popular volleyball tournament), and the Delt Dogs event in the spring, which brings lots of happy shelter dogs to play in our courtyard and raise money for animal welfare. This year, we are eager to kick start our new philanthropy event, a real Louisiana crawfish boil, which should raise a lot of money for another deserving charity. During just the past school year, our members have logged over 3,000 hours of community service to support numerous charitable and civic organizations in the Norman area. Our members have demonstrated remarkable leadership through participation in University Sing, Scandals and Homecoming, and by becoming active leaders of dozens of student organizations on the University of Oklahoma campus. In the academic arena, we hold our members to extremely high standards. Our minimum GPA requirement for initiation is a 2.75, which is higher than the standard set by our national fraternity, and one of the highest benchmarks on campus. Our entire chapter strives for academic excellence every year, and we have numerous members with 4.0 GPAs as evidence of our success. In keeping with the Delt tradition of having active, well-rounded members, our men are very active in intramural athletics, competing regularly in football, basketball, soccer, and n u m e r o u s i n d i v i d u a l s p o r t s . A l l o f t h e s e elements have come together at 1320 College Street to form one of the best fraternities at OU. O u r c o m m i t m e n t t o l i v e s o f e x c e l l e n c e , however, goes well beyond our college years. As an alumnus, I am sure you know that being a member of Delta Tau Delta instills values in our young men that benefit them throughout their lives. Please feel free to visit the Delta Shelter any time you are in Norman. We would love to give you a tour of the Shelter and introduce you to the outstanding men of Delta Alpha.
