CHAPTER ETERNAL M. Dudley Gowland '37 entered Chapter Eternal on April 22 at the age of 97. He was born in Dallas on May 30, 1917 and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in business. Dudley lived in Corpus Christi, where he started his own accounting firm, Gowland, Strealy, Morales and Company, PLLC. He worked there until the age of 85. From then on, he lived in San Antonio to be with his daughter and granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Gowland. Dudley is survived by his daughter, Robin Jenks; and granddaughter, Clayton Jenks. Roderick J. Fraser Jr. '46 entered Chapter Eternal on February 7. In 1956, Rod joined the El Paso Natural Gas Company where he worked until he retired in 1983. He was an avid golfer as a member of El Paso Country Club and an active member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church of El Paso. Rod was a dedicated and involved University of Texas alumnus and attended many Longhorn games. He was immensely proud of his Scottish heritage and was well known for his warmth and sense of humor. Rod is survived by his wife, Mary Carolyn; three daughters, Claire, Laurie and Judy; and six grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Daniel A. Stultz '54 entered Chapter Eternal on May 28, 2014. He was a resident of Fort Worth, Texas. Raymond L. Scarborough Jr. '59 entered Chapter Eternal on January 12, 2013, at the age of 72. Ray was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Scarborough, and wife of 10 years, Kathy Scarborough. He is survived by sister, Jenny Jo Scarborough Adams. Max F. Yarbrough '68 entered Chapter Eternal on September 8, 2014. He was a resident of Harlingen, Texas, and is survived by his mother, Dorothy; brother, Houston; and many nieces and nephews. David Reed Leachman '77 entered Chapter Eternal on August 12, 2013, after he suffered a heart attack. He was born on May 9, 1958. He graduated from Lawrenceville Prep School and the University of Texas at Austin where he was on the Dean's List. David was the golf club champion at Brook Hollow Golf Club for six years and had two holes-in-one. He was associated with Briggs Freeman real estate firm in Dallas. David is survived by his children, Nicole and Josh, and their mother, Dana; his mother, Anne Reed Rooth; his sister, Susan Milliorn; brother-in-law, Mark Milliorn; stepbrother, Robert Rooth; and wife, Carrol. Donny Leland James Jr. '90 entered Chapter Eternal on March 12 at the age of 44. He was born November 3, 1970 in Houston to Donald L. James, Sr. and Dinah Lee James. He is survived by his father; his sister, Brandi Ocampo and husband, Reymundo; and niece, Aria Ocampo. His family and friends remember how Donald could light up a room with his smile and was known to have a gentle heart, helping all he knew. ALUMNI NEWS Greg Powers '72 has practiced law for more than 30 years and resides in Harlingen, where he has served on the Harlingen Consolidated ISD's elected board of trustees since 2010. In the past, Greg has also served his community as chairman of its airport board, president of Cameron County's Bar Association, and president of the Rotary Club. He and Julie have enjoyed 30 years of marriage and have two adult sons; the eldest, Steves, will marry in November 2015 and Charlie is a junior at U.T. Bruce is a partner in the anti-trust practice of the law firm Jones Day. Previously, Bruce served as a deputy associate attorney general of the United States in the Anti-Trust Division of the Department of Justice during the Bush administration. E-mail: bmcdonald@ jonesday.com Brant Bousquet '84 has led the nonprofit, The Hard Bargain Association, in Franklin, Tenn., since 2007, which was recently named Best Community Revitalization by Southern Living. Founded in 2006, the nonprofit works to rebuild and restore the historic former African American community, "Hard Bargain," founded by a freed slave in 1875 in suburban Nashville. Shauna manages the Texas chapter of ZERO, a prostate cancer research nonprofit, and Preston is a co-founder and owner of Novus Health Services, as well as a member of the Beta Mu Alumni Advisory Board. Jada was a Kappa Kappa Gamma at the University of Mississippi and is a supply chain engineer with PepsiCo's Frito Lay unit. Conner is CFO of Dominion Harbor Group, a patent investment and monetization firm. The couple resides in the Lakewood area of Dallas. Conner serves on the Beta Mu Alumni Advisory Board. The third generation Dr. Ryburn began a residency in transitional medicine with Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Wash., in June. The couple met at the Pike house during preparation for Swamp in fall 2008 and began dating at that year's Christmas formal. Beth is an alumna of the University of Texas and Delta Gamma sorority, and served as Pike's head sweetheart for two years. The couple currently reside in Houston. Beth works as a process engineer for BHP Billiton Petroleum, and Patrick is an attorney at Kiefaber and Oliva, LLP.
