I
t is with great pleasure that I report to you the year's successes
at the Washington Beta Chapter. We ended the spring semester
with a chapter GPA of 3.12 and more than 1,000 community service
hours. Furthermore, we made incredible improvements to the
chapter house and the surrounding property, recruited 42 new
members, and had an amazing brotherhood event.
Improvements Made to the Chapter House
Ten days prior to school, the brothers of the
Washington Beta Chapter returned to the chapter
house for work week. Working as a team, we were able
to make immense improvements to the chapter house.
The entire property was landscaped; we pulled weeds,
removed dead grass, and re-barked. Furthermore, the grass
was edged, hedges trimmed, and dead bushes removed. The sun
porch was slightly rebuilt and the entire deck was re-stained. Lastly,
in an effort to begin creating the basketball court we desperately
desire, we built a brand new backboard for our hoop.

Recruitment this summer was absolutely phenomenal with more
than 15 events held in Spokane, Lake Chelan, and Seattle. Our
most successful events were the Sounders game, a Mariners game,
and a camping trip to Lake Chelan. Throughout the summer, we
were able to gain 35 outstanding gentlemen, and the recruitment
process continued into the fall semester. During formal recruitment,
we were able to solidify our exceptional freshmen class with the
addition of another seven excellent new members. We are happy to
have welcomed them into our beloved brotherhood.
Brotherhood Events Planned for Fall
Lastly, the focus of the year has been placed on solidifying
the brotherhood and unity within the chapter. We have
several brotherhood events planned, including a four-
sport tournament of softball, basketball, flag football,
and soccer. We began the fall semester with a trip to the
Moscow Water Park for a great day of water-filled fun.

It is with great pleasure that I tell you that the Chapter has
never been stronger and we are only working to make ourselves
better every day. We are the most motivated we have ever been
and continue to set our sights high. It is our hope that we can share
our experience with you over the coming semester, and we would
love to see you at the upcoming Coug games! As always, Phi Alpha
and Go Cougs!
