58 NORTH BAY WOMAN | F A L L 2 0 1 5 the EYES have it By Adrienne Shubin Your eyes make statements all the time. They express excitement and boredom, joy and sadness, love and disdain. And they also show age, tiredness and stress. You can't stop the aging process and we all know sleep is hard to come by in our busy world but there are things you can do to your eyes to make them look refreshed. From the perfect brow to the lushest lashes, I've got the latest in beauty trends for the eyes, meant to brighten, define and frame those windows to your soul. Eyebrows are one of the most conspicuous features on your face According to brow expert and esthetician, Bridgene Raftery of Bridgene's Beauty Bar in Sonoma, "Brows frame the face and changing them can make a huge difference for anybody." There are several ways you can improve the look of your brows from a professional shaping to permanent makeup. For a brow shaping, Bridgene prefers using hard wax on her clients because she says it's the most gentle. Clients with sensitive skin and those who use certain anti- aging creams can experience irritation from other waxes. For a much longer lasting and dramatic brow change, she suggests permanent makeup. Permanent makeup has come a long way since it first became fashionable in the 1930s. Using pigments instead of tattoo ink, which penetrates more deeply, Bridgene skillfully creates eyebrows that frame and complement the face. She says, "Pigments have improved over the years. Now you can mix them and modify them to make the exact color you desire. And they hold the color longer instead of fading into salmon or gray shades." The latest trend in permanent makeup for eyebrows is the Brow Stroke procedure. Brow Stroke uses a fine needle to create hair strokes that resemble tiny hairs. Those with thinning brows, short or overly narrow brows or bald spots like their results with permanent makeup. Bridgene says her younger clients prefer Brow Stroke while her more mature clients usually opt for the Powdered Brow look.
