The Kings Mountain Mountaineers vs Crest Chargers Recap The Crest Chargers remained perfect this season after winning a Cleveland County rivalry game at Kings Mountain. Final score 48 to 14. The one thing the Mountaineers defense had luck with was controlling the Crest running game and their main star Tre Harbison. However, when you've got Quarterback Willie Green and tons of receiving talent, Crest went ahead and put up big points as usual. The games fi rst score in the 1st qtr. was Green to Wesley Bullard on a 23 yard pass. Then it was Green hitting Devonte Huskey on a 60 yard TD. Later, Green's next three passing scores were all to Receiver Tyshum Odom. The two combined on touchdowns of 48, 39, and 4 yards. The Chargers had 455 yards total passing in the game to Kings Moun- tain's 87. Mountaineer scores came on rushing TD's of 3 yards by J'air McCluney and 2 yards by Jake Mer- chant. Leading rusher for the game, both teams, was KM's Shane Grier with just 58 yards. Crest improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the SMAC (South Mtn. Athletic Conference) while Kings Mtn. Is now 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference. This Friday, these teams very successful seasons continues when Crest host East Burke and KM visits RS Central. The Shelby Golden Lions vs East Rutherford Recap The Golden Lions kept their high level of play going strong after handling East Rutherford 54-20 last Fri- day. Shelby Quarterback Darquez Lee had 400 yards passing in this game, which moved the Golden Lions (through 8 games) to 2,866 total passing yards for the season. Lee even sits at number 4 in the nation in passing yards and 3rd in touchdown passes/receptions. Shelby standouts in the East Ruth. game were Wide Receiver - Antwan Wright with 5 catches, 161 yards, and 2 touchdowns of 65 and 58 yards. On defense, Shelby's Dax Hollifi eld with 13 tackles (including a sack) and Michael Carson with 10 tackles, six of them for loss, lead in stats. Kicker Ethan Triplett was 7 for 7 on extra points in the win and also contributed a 32 yard fi eld goal. Shelby thus far is averaging 47.6 points per game this season, as their record now stands at 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the SMAC. Another big rivalry and conference game is this week when Shelby host Burns. The Bulldogs coming off a two week break enter at 3-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
