Beta Phi Crier beta phi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta the ohio state university n fall 2015 S ince its founding in 1894, Beta Phi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta has impacted the lives of more than 2,300 young men at The Ohio State University. It offered us a support system that provided a lifetime of friendships, contacts, social opportunities, and many fond memories. In 2007, thanks to the generosity of many of our brothers, we were able to update the Shelter to make it safe and livable for our newly rechartered chapter. Since that time, we've seen tremendous success and growth. Beta Phi today is as strong as ever, but our Shelter is 60 years old; Ohio State and the neighborhood around 15th and High Streets are changing. Today, we have an incredible opportunity to build on our recent success. We are pleased to announce the Beta Phi: Doorway of Opportunity campaign. This capital campaign builds upon the work we've already done and will help us meet the needs of our undergraduate members and position ourselves to continue to attract top student leaders who will maintain our position as a top fraternity at The Ohio State University. These renovations will meet all the requirements to qualify as approved housing for the OSU Second-year Transformational Experience Program (S.T.E.P.), which requires all first- and second-year students to live on campus. Simply put, we need more beds to accommodate all the sophomores who will be eager to live in the Shelter! Many brothers may be wondering why we are launching another campaign in such a close proximity to the campaign in 2007. First, we did not foresee the changing campus culture that would initiate S.T.E.P. It is also important to remember that the safety measures we took years ago were absolutely necessary for our positive momentum. If we hadn't improved our kitchen facilities, provided modern HVAC systems, and added a sprinkler system and smoke sensors years ago, we would have to address these areas now. We benefitted from the generosity of those who came before us, like John W. Galbreath. Now we are the alumni, and it is vital we contribute time, energy, and our financial resources to Beta Phi Chapter. We can expect great things of our fundraising campaign, but will only achieve our vision if we work together to make this BETA PHI CHAPTER ANNOUNCES $2 MILLION CAMPAIGN TO EXPAND THE SHELTER More Than $1.34 Million Already Committed by Loyal Alumni (Continued on page 3)
