Coach's Corner: Coach David Esquer I hope everyone had a great summer and is ready to follow an exciting year of Cal Athletics and, in particular, Cal Baseball. The freshmen moved in on Sunday, August 23, and classes started on the 26th. I could not be more excited to welcome this year's incoming class and welcome back our returning players! Last year's taste of the post-season has left our team hungry for a bigger and better 2016 season, and I believe we are up to the challenge. We will be returning our weekend rotation as well as 12 players who saw action as starters on last year's team. While we will miss Chris Paul, Dylan Nelson, and Chris Muse-Fisher; we know that they have left a positive mark on our program. Last year's run in the playoffs was some of the most exciting baseball and rewarding experience that I have had in college baseball. Our team made everyone proud to be a Cal Bear! Our fall season will start with six weeks of strength training and conditioning. On October 10, we will kick off our team practices, continue all the way up to Thanksgiving break, and then get ready for finals. We are really looking forward to the alumni events the weekend of October 31 and the Ralph Walker Cup Golf Tournament on November 2. We plan on putting in the hard work this fall to improve upon last year's season and bring a Pac-12 championship to Cal and a trip to Omaha for the Golden Bears!
