THETA DELTA DRAGON Page 2 T he traditions of Beta unite us all, whether one of the first initiates, a refounding father, or somewhere in- between. Dominic Jr. '85 and Dominic III '18 Bagnoli are lucky enough to also be united as father and son. Dominic III always knew he wanted to join Greek life, as both of his parents were involved, but wasn't sure where he belonged. His father asked him to meet with the colony coordinator, Brock Griffin, Utah '13, and Dominic soon found he belonged at Beta. "I saw something different in this group of guys. I saw their ambition and shared dream to fix the mistakes of the past and to build a bigger and better Beta." e father-son duo has enjoyed their shared Beta memories and looks forward to making more. Domininc III notes, "One of the defining moments we had as father and son was when I was initiated in Oxford. My dad surprised me when he helped in the ritual and helped initiate me himself. at meant a lot to me." Dominic Jr. is proud of Dominic III's role in refounding eta Delta—reestablishing a community he is so proud of. Dominic Jr. was proud to be a Beta back in college, and still is today. "Our spot on 15th and Indianola just seemed like we were the prime house on campus. ose pillars, that porch: how could you beat it? I learned a lot by getting involved in leadership and self-governance, and some of the friends I made are among my best even today!" His favorite Ohio State memory was Script Ohio, and his favorite Beta traditions were all the history and singing. e Bagnolis are enthusiastic supporters of Beta and know how important supporting eta Delta is. Dominic Jr. volunteers his time serving Beta, thanks to the influence of Coach Woody Hayes, who said, "You can never pay back so you must pay forward." Dominic Jr. says, "Beta was very important in my life and I know it can be for so many other young men, I hope I can be an example and encourage others to support Beta." Dominic III is confident in eta Delta's ability to create Men of Principle. "Beta is a trailblazer nationally. e recolonization is the same thing; it will help good guys become great men through Beta." Dominic Jr. is CEO of U.S. Acute Care Solutions, one of the largest emergency medicine groups in the country. He and his wife, Dr. Vivian von Grueingen, a Kappa Alpha eta at OSU, have one other child, Elise Bagnoli (17), who is a senior at Lake High School. Dominic III is majoring in biology with a minor in Italian and hopes to attend medical school. He enjoys traveling and participating in Off the Lake Productions, Ohio State's student-run musical theatre group. Beta Love Runs Deep Spotlight on Dominic Jr. '85 and Dominic III '18 Bagnoli Colony Members Work Hard to Ensure Success of Theta Delta Alumni, Come Visit the Colony is Fall! W hile school was out of session for most students, the eta Delta Colony was hard at work this summer developing and bettering our Fraternity. e summer attendance of eight members at the Wooden Institute and three more at the 176th General Convention helped lead to our reception of the Charles Henry Hardin Leadership Development Award. Steven Repas '17 Represents Theta Delta at Convention Convention proved to be a proud moment for eta Deltas as brother Steven Repas '17 served as the keynote undergraduate speaker in a revival of an old convention tradition. Steven spoke on the volunteer medical work he participated in this summer in Haiti with our philanthropy partner, Ministry in Mission. In a moving and inspiring speech, Steven proved how he has been leading the way in the theme of the 176th—others before self. e speech in its entirety can be found on YouTube. Executive Board Plans for Success In an effort to ensure the sustained success of our Fraternity here at Ohio State, our executive board compiled a plan for success this summer. e plan is intended to serve as a fluid blueprint and guide for the future about not only how to operate effectively, but why Beta eta Pi must be held to a different standard than the norm in the Ohio State Greek community. e plan focuses on a number of elements and concerns of Fraternity life, including risk management, hazing, new member education, and recruitment, among others. Visit Theta Delta for the Alumni BBQ on October 9 e fall semester will prove to be a busy one for our colony.
