Page 4 Hello Neighbors The "season" is drawing to a close, al- though with the severe weather occurring around the Nation the Snow Birds might want to reconsider their travel plans. Many of the vendors reported that they had a very good "season". They also com- mented that they appreciated the police protection and rapid response to calls for help as did several visitors and residents. We are very proud of and thankful for our dedicated officers. Bye for now, Patricia Anderson Quartzsite Town Council Pulled strings People as well as puppets can be manip- ulated. People are manipulated by being bought off, by people behind the scenes, who are too cowardly to do their own dirty work. No doubt Judas Iscariot was bought off in just such a way. You never hear who was behind him in betraying Christ. We know it was someone with thirty pieces of silver, using Judas as a decoy to lead Jesus to the cross. Perhaps the present situation in Quartz- site, is not unlike that, prompted by a group, behind the scenes, with the silver to manipulate. Taking advantage of a number of willing puppets, with no visible means of wealth, dancing to the strings pulled by the manipulators. Puppets greedy enough to accept the silver and betray the town. Folks here are aware of where they run to for their marching orders and when they have an axe to grind. Elmer London, Quartzsite "THE PEOPLE'S VOICE" Letters to Editor Policy Desert Messenger encourages letters from its readers. Letters should be no longer than 300 words, and may be edited for grammar, content and length. OPINIONS EXPRESSED HERE DO NOT NECESSAR- ILY REPRESENT THOSE OF THE DESERT MESSENGER. We invite you to not only see a problem, but www.DesertMessenger.com THE PEOPLE'S VOICE Thank you QIA I just want to say "Thank You" to Patty Smith, Steve and Celeste Hunt and every- one involved in the QIA Bingo program for putting on such a great promotion that al- lowed me to 'WIN THE GOLD!" Paul and I have wintered in Quartzsite for 23 years, coming here from Wisconsin. I would also like to say "Thanks" to the Town of Quartz- site for being a great place to liveā€¦even if I hadn't won the gold! Diane Urner Stand up Time to Stand Up Against The Citizen's Coalition BULLIES It's been much nicer since Foster was recalled as Mayor. The damaging bad press Foster, Jade and the Coalition caused is astounding. Jade seems convinced she can say any- thing about anyone. Doesn't it infuriate you how Jade trashed the memories of Rosalee Oldham Wheeler and Bob Kelley after they passed away? The good people of Quartzsite need to let her know what we think about her lies, bullying and degrading others. You see Jade's pathetic, negative rag ev- erywhere in Parker and printing is expen- sive. Desert Messenger appears to have many more advertisers but they can't af- ford to place papers everywhere. Who is financing Jade's paper? These activists are doing their best to discredit and humiliate our town, govern- ment, officials and police department, in any way they can. Many people feel there is a well-financed, well-planned and cleverly orchestrated Just Rambling... Reuben, Reuben search for the solution to share with the com- munity, keeping the benefit of all in mind. Letters considered libelous, in poor taste, on a personal issue, mean spirited or dominated by Scripture quotes will not be published. Third party letters will not be accepted. To avoid confusion over people with com- mon or similar names, writers must provide a full name and indicate the name they are known by. Writers must provide a full street address and phone number. Rvers can provide the location of park/BLM land, etc. Street addresses will not be published. Phone numbers are for verification only and will not be printed. Mail letters to: The People's Voice, Desert Messenger, P.O. Box 3185, Quartzsite, AZ 85359 or E-mail to: desertmessenger7@yahoo.com 541-218-2560 I've been thinking, what a poor world this would be. Without you, at the counter, smiling at each one you see. Reuben, Reuben skilled and patient, toiling there without a fuss. Makes the line less aggravating knowing you are there for us. From an 1871 song words by Harry Birch melody by William Gooch Provided by Elmer London & Desert Messenger conspiracy in Quartzsite to discredit and embarrass town officials and police and try to disincorporate Quartzsite for personal, political and financial gain to the planners. I believe the Citizen's Coalition won't be sat- isfied until there are NO rules, NO govern- ment and NO police here. If that is what they want, there are plenty of places near Quartz- site where they can move and not have town government, code enforcement, police, etc. It is our Town Government that makes Quartzsite such a safe and enjoyable to live. There are plenty of unincorporated towns the Coalition can move to without destroy- ing Quartzsite. Do we want Quartzsite stores to need pris- on-like barbed-wire fencing like Aguilla? Many good Quartzsite people want Quartzsite to grow and prosper, but don't want to get involved in politics. WE NEED TO WAKE UP AND JOIN TOGETHER! If we don't get involved, these activists are going to destroy our town. Vote for Jerry Lukkasson, Barbara Cow- ell, Joe Winslow and Michael Jewitt. Dr. Ronald Jones Proud Quartzsite Full Time Resident Relentless enemies "If you don't wear down your enemy, your enemy will wear you down." One hundred years from now, Alex Taft will be remembered for walking paths from the senior housing and assisted liv- ing facilities to the college which allows our elders to walk from one end of town to the other on a beautiful walkway with benches, shade, and beautiful desert foliage. Our Town Manager will also be remembered DEADLINE is WED. March 14 for March 21st issue of the Desert Messenger Email: desertmessenger7@yahoo.com Phone: 541-218-2560 www.DesertMessenger.com March 7, 2012 for ending the cycle of power and control that was rocking Quartzsite's world for de- cades. Ms. Taft helped to restore mayoral duties to egalitarian status, making for a peaceful future. Jerry Lukkasson will be remembered for his valiant fight to put Proposition 1 on the ballot of 2012, then give up his seat on the council to run for mayor, thus becoming the last "elected" mayor in our all-out ef- fort to protect our town from the mayoral candidate, Ed Foster who had already been recalled by citizens who saw through the smoke and mirrors to the truth that Fos- ter and his constituents were nothing more than political puppets for the criminal ele- ment of our town. To those who think, "I'm not going to vote because I don't know which side is right" here are your choices... One side has nothing good to say about Quartzsite, and the other side keeps our town on track while at the same time fight- ing the fight of our lives so that future citi- zens will reflect back a hundred years from now on the haven we have created, fought for, and maintained. Hygeia Halfmoon, Quartzsite Bird feeding This is in response to information shared by Patricia Anderson. Don't worry about feeding the birds. According to Birds and Blooms Magazine (the authority on feed- ing the birds) they only get 25 % of their feed from bird feeders. When we leave, spring has sprung and the desert provides all of what they [birds] need. Dick Dale Birdman of Arkansas Children who refuse to grow up In response to a campaign letter being circulated to residents of Quartzsite. To the children who refuse to grow up I must be making a few folks uneasy in town, otherwise why would they bring up again that I work for Richard Oldham. I work outdoors as the housekeeper 4 hours a day except for the few minutes I spend clean- ing the office. I am NOT his personal maid! Being two faced is not a game I play be- cause I firmly believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion whether I like it or not. How do you do a job as a Mayor or Council member if you don't listen to everyone in- cluding the folks you might not like?
