T his past semester, the New Hampshire Beta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon accomplished a great deal within the Uni- versity of New Hampshire community, bet- tered themselves in the classroom, and put on many successful events that led to yet another great semester. The chapter put a strong emphasis on its academic prowess, and the end result re- flected the hard work that went into their studies over the semester. In addition to conventional methods of studying, the un- dergraduates implemented several sys- tems to ensure that members had the best opportunity to succeed in the classroom. Academic presentations and study clinics, library hours, and study buddies allowed for members who have strong study habits to mentor others and improve not only their grades, but the brotherhood. The chap- ter's final spring 2015 GPA, a 3.01, was well above the UNH all-men's average of a 2.96, and ranked fifth among all male Greek organizations. NH Beta was once again very involved with many different organizations on and off campus. The undergraduates organized and participated in events to help better the town, the campus, and their fellow students. The new membership program earned the chapter a Greek award for best new mem- bership programming, and the chapter received the highest score in the Greek ratings system for campus and community involvement. The chapter's small, yet dedicated group of alumni saw two more members move on as Tim Turcotte '84 and Scott Haskell '12 moved away from the area this past semes- ter. Tim, our past alumni association presi- dent, will be followed by Tom Johnson '75 as president. Scott, our past alumni asso- ciation treasurer, has accepted his dream job with TayorMade-Adidas Golf as a part of their Global Brand Department, and will be moving to California. We thank Tim and Scott for their dedication and insight over the past few years. It is these involvements that can truly make a difference in helping the chapter reach its lofty goals. I invite any and all alumni of Sigma Alpha Epsilon to join our alumni board in any capacity. Any guidance, any resource, any amount of time goes a long way and makes a difference in the development of our undergraduates as the future leaders of tomorrow. The chapter house, located at 28 Madbury Road in Durham, has an open door policy to all brothers. We en- courage alumni to stop by to tour the house and share some time and wisdom with our brothers. I also encourage any alumni with any questions about the house, the chapter, or what our alumni board is doing to help out the chapter, to get in touch with me or our other Chapter Advisor, Richard "Dick" Hooker 'YR, at rhooker102@comcast.net.
